Wanted to try using the same paper for different parts of the card. It seemed to merge in one dark-blue spot but using embossing (cold and hot ones) I got them looking differently. Used wrinkle-free technique to create the central round element. The only thing that I hadn't had distress inks in colors I need so used ColorBox ones. Even being pigment ones they are water-based to work for this technique as well (you don't need to run to a craft-store to purchase distress ink). Then I applied a bit of ink directly to the paper in the spots I wanted to make color more deep.

I used Cherry and Birch Wood Paper for the hot air balloons. I think they add great texture to this CAS masculine birthday card.
I'm entering this for the Simon Says Happy Birthday Challenge here.

Tim Holtz Distress Inks / Memory Box deer die / Kaboks text / Crealies stencil
CASE'd a card from Australian Stamping and Papercraft magazine by Therese Calvrid, I used Hero Arts Etched flower stamp and when I coloured, fussy cut the roses. I had watched a Spectrum Noir video about colouring roses, and adapted by Copic colours. One coral red, one medium red and one dark red (cardinal red) I cut two branches with a Memory Box die and some leaves from a MFT Die-Namics die set. Don't look too closely as my sentiment isn't straight! Should have used a stamp positioner. The sentiments are by Kaiser craft.
stamps by memory box, technique use of perfect perarls; details at my blog: stampingwithbibiana.blogspot.com/2013/08/perfect-pearlsas...
Just a simple thank you card. I did a basic wash on watercolour paper, let it dry, stamped the bouquet, then paper pieced the flowers and leaves. Note to self for next time: waaaaaay simpler to just colour it, instead of paper piecing! :)
supplies:
E201: violet bouquet: Memory Box
cranberry notecard (flowers): Memory Box
sentiment: Hero Arts (stamp # isn't marked; I'll update this if I can find it)
*** edited to add: Sorry for the bad picture - the card base and tag are both white in real life. ***

I'm in awe. The Lady Anomaly has sent me some of the most beautiful art I have ever seen in my life. Sacred things. Inside the prettily decorated envelope were two thick polaroid prints, (bent as time-travelers might be), a double-sided page of unimaginably exquisite illustrations, a pencil-written letter on a small piece of brown paper, and a slender, wooden Cornell treasure-box filled with dreams, loss, and memories, with an extraordinarily fine goddess of cats delicately drawn on the lid.
My sweet wicked self has been broken open by the care put into these precious things. I want to take her hands, palm up like branches of lit candles, and kiss them daintily in each palm, and never let go. I want to disregard caution, a ghost in love, kneel like the moon and lick the scarred ridges of her burning satin heart. The next time I dye my hair, I will take strands of it and tangle them into the amber beaded threads and silver inside the box, as if to tie us together, coax her elegant bones into my arms all the way from North Dakota.

For today's card, I decided to play with a paint chip. I had a scrap piece of Memory Box Brioche paper lying around, and I also had a paint chip that matched the paper. I thought it would be fun to mask the paint chip and use two of the new Memory Box background stamps (Mercer Rose and Mail Definitions backgrounds) to fill in the color chips. To see complete details, please see my post here:
