Weird how some things can just bring back such strong memories, so strong that it actually creates a physical reaction.

In this case it was a good thing - it isn't always! But, really, an amusement park ride? Yep, my whole childhood came rushing back to me.

Teddy is 12 weeks old here. I had only had Teddy for a week but obviosuly in love lol How time flies by, i can't believe he is already 3 years old! We have done so much in those quick years from his GCG test, his modelling jobs and Agility. Im so proud of him. He is my best Friend.

We all remember things when we were kids about the holidays that became a tradition or in some way came to represent or stick out in your minds. I know when I was a kid, the day after Thanksgiving, we would all go and walk across the brooklyn bridge into the city walk up to China-town. There we would play some skee-ball for a while in the arcades and then go on to see the sights. Now the day after Thanksgiving is the day I change out the cd's to Christmas music. This was one of my favorite albums as a kid. I think it was because it was the first time I had heard the song the little drummer boy. Actually wore the grooves out of it. Thankfully a friend of mine found it on CD for me a few years ago.

What are some of your favorite memories?

Memories are forget-me-nots gathered along life's way,

Pressed close to the human heart into a perennial bouquet.

O God of spirits, and of all flesh, who hast trampled down death and overthrown the Devil and given life to Thy world: Do Thou, the same Lord, give rest to the soul of Thy departed servant Jaroslav, in a place of brightness, a place of refreshment, a place of repose, where all sickness, sighing, and sorrow have fled away. Pardon every transgression which he has committed, whether by word or deed or thought. For Thou art a good God and lovest mankind; because there is no man who lives yet does not sin; for Thou only art without sin; Thy righteousness is to all eternity; and Thy word is truth.

For Thou art the resurrection, the life, and the repose of Thy servant, Jaroslav, who is fallen asleep, O Christ our God, and unto Thee we ascribe glory, together with Thy Father, Who is from everlasting, and Thine all-holy, good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Grant rest eternal in blessed repose, O Lord, to Thy servant Jaroslav, who has fallen asleep, and make his memory to be eternal!

St Columba. Window in memory of George Glen Legoe, created by William Bustard and Exton & Co, both of Brisbane.

“LEGOE — On July 7. at a private hospital, George Glen Legoe, of 22 Northgate street. Unley Park.” [The Mail 7 Jul 1951]

“Mr. George Glen Legoe, well-known businessman and pastoralist, of Northgate street, Unley Park, died at a private hospital on Saturday. Mr. Legoe was associated with Wilcox, Mofflin Ltd. for 38 years. He retired in March, 1948, from the board of Executor Trustee and Agency Co. Ltd. of SA after 22 years' service.” [Advertiser 9 Jul 1951]

“Mr. Legoe once had 500 acres under lucerne at Salisbury; it still grows on Parafield air station, which was part of the property. When he lived at Victoria avenue, Unley Park, he experimented with fat lamb raising on a third of an acre under lucerne, irrigated. In one season on this small plot he fattened 23 lambs, provided two feeds of lucerne daily for two cows and a feed daily for two ponies. That was why Mr. Legoe had such faith in the South East for lucerne and strawberry clover; he had nearly 5,000 acres at Binnum 20 odd years ago.” [Chronicle 12 Jul 1951]

Sign should read "no frills". food quality is never to bad, lots of no-name product. Fab gave me my 1st minimum wage grocery store job back in high school. I was head stock boy for the freezer department. I walked in for my interview and he read my last name out loud, then asked if I new Robert. I said he was one of my 1st cousins. Fab said he went to school with him and the rest was history. That Job was one of 4 that I worked during high school. Best memory of that store was falling a sleep in the -40C freezer for 15 min. I had made a bed out of a skid of Ice cream, and had they not found me when they did, I would have been frozen, just like Walt Disney, and one of the former Russian Leaders, Stalin, Lenin or was it Kruschev? Still those were good times.

This is a photo my Auntie Dorrie gave me yesterday my Mother is standing up and Auntie Dorrie is kneeling down holding Uncle Joe.

The photograph was taken at my Mothers Uncles farm, which is nothing unusual except for one fact. If you went through the that gate you would be in Round Oak Steel Works which is now Merry Hill Shopping Centre. I know it is difficult to see on the photo but in the distance are what appear to be vertical dark marks, these are actually the chimneys of the Steel Works

It's those memories we cannot keep.

Those that fade away at the touch of light,

and resurface again and again, in our mind, night after night.

They are the feelings.

The touch.

The sound.

The look.

The look that she gave him.

And the look that he gave to her.

In those rooms with shadowy drapes,

the halls with frameless pictures,

those sheets damped with longing,

he remembers, and she forgets.

It's that vase filled with promises, broken.

It's that time frozen, shattered.

It's that flower, lived, and withered.

They are the moments we cannot forget.

The ones that we so easily leave behind,

yet find them imprinted in our souls, burnt into the bones.

Bible Quiz Meet #1

I spent a large part of my day scanning old negatives from a 2003 trip to Massachusetts. This is my son who was 12 then, mugging for the camera. Nowadays he's married and a new dad.

A piece of sheet music my dear sweet Mammaw tried to teach me to play... She could play the piano beautifully... Going to see if I can remember how to play this one... I was probably around 7 then, so, it has been a while... A 'little' while... :-)

Memories

My love for memories is so great,

My heart melts. I think of them 'til sunset each day.

The night dreaming of the past when I lived my childhood days.

These days are so far away. In my distant past.

Hugging, helping. Mommy playing with me each day.

The beauty is great,

Wondering my mind, I dream every minute every day.,

Wondering is all I do,

While waiting for the moment. Dreams say stop dwelling on the

far away past.

My passion for my dreams is so vast.

My heart beats strong and fast.

My dreams are with me 'til the twilight hues of dusk each day.

I give love to my dreams every moment of every day.

The night needs me to dream my dreams.

When seeing my dreams. I look 'til day's sunrise.

The beauty is so great,

Wondering mind 'til I see,

Running is all I do,

While waiting for the moment, for they to say "I will do."
