This box was a gift from my Grandma Jeanne to my Grandfather Daniel in December of 1924, when they'd been married a few years. It's always been on my mother's desk, and in Cairo, she had it fitted with a wrought iron frame. When we moved here to Brooklyn, she gave it to us and now it's got all our wedding memories in it.
It is, needless to say, very precious to me. I never met my grandfather but I remember Grandma Jeanne well - and the spidery, neat handwriting dedicating the box on the inside reminds me of her.
American Motoring Memories is a classic car restoration shop in Culver City Calif. The owner Jeff Reade concentrates primarily on early Corvette restorations but is known to do total & partial restorations and update maintenance on many of the Big Three (GM, Ford, Chrysler) classics from the '50s to early 70's.
Inside the tree is built music box that plays the melody Memory and be wound with the supplied key up. Melody, the principle of the clockwork and the tree itself can be viewed on this video.
Flowers, head and tentacles creatures in the hollow, round insert into creature on the chair, the tips of chair and round legs - from fluorescent clay (glow in the dark). Unfortunately did not manage take pictures of this effect.
Inside the hollow behind the creatures is a mirror, which is also decorated with shapes of fluorescent clay.
Height - 93cm, length between the ends of the longest branches - 83cm, base diameter 23cm.
Papier-mache, fluorescent and regular clay, iron wire, old plastic horse, mirror, iron frame, musical box.
A wall quilt hand embroidered, appliqued and quilted with hand-dyed fabrics. The apron has a real pocket. An original design, the first quilt I designed myself.
About a month ago I went through my aperture library and did a massive redesign on the approach I use to keyword my images. I'm really glad I did that because last week I wanted to find an image of my dog littlebear who passed away a few months ago to give to my stepdad Matt for Christmas (he was Littlebears favorite). Well after doing a search for Littlebear in aperture it pulled up this image - one I never knew I really had and really liked. I applied a few small contrast edits to the image. Glad I found it, He was a wonderful dog/friend.
Image was taken when I was down in Southern Oregon for a wedding and had rented a 5d Mk2 and a 85 f1.2 lens.

My 2004 40th Anniversary Crimson Red GT Convertible and my daughter's 2005 red Power Wheels GT Convertible. Great show, huge turnout compared to last year with the threat of rain. My rear tires and rev limiter got three great workouts. Thanks to MOCSEM for a great car show.

“Right Rev. Matthew Blagden Hale, D.D., late Bishop of Brisbane. Dr. Hale, who was the third son of the late Robert H. Blagden Hale, of Alderley, Gloucestershire, was born in 1811 at Alderley, and educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. . . curate of Tresham and Wotton-under-Edge, in Gloucester. . . rector of Alderley, and then of Atworth and Wraxall, in Wilts. In 1847 he met the late Bishop Short, of Adelaide, at a friend's home, and was persuaded to go out to Australia as his archdeacon, landing in Adelaide in 1847. In 1850 the archdeacon established the well known aboriginal mission-station at Poonindie, near Port Lincoln, and acted as its superintendent until 1856. . . appointed first bishop of the newly-constituted see of Perth, West Australia. He administered the diocese of Perth till 1875, when, on the unanimous nomination of the bishops of Australia and Tasmania, he was translated to the bishopric of Brisbane, rendered vacant by the retirement of Dr. Tuffnell. In March, 1885, Bishop Hale resigned the latter see and returned to England where he officiated for some time as rector of Ozleworth, Gloucester. Built as church & school for Poonindie Mission Station, first service 17 May 1855, known as St Matthew’s by 1867, renovated 1913, 1954 & 2005, still in use. Poonindie Mission Station founded 10 Sep 1850 by Archdeacon Matthew Hale, lease surrendered by 1894 and aboriginal people transferred to Point Pearce & Point McLeay, 300 acres dedicated as an aboriginal reserve.

the modules i just got are identical to two i already had... so that's 6x1GB now.
somehow i thought this package was already lost in the mail... especially since i saw how the Xeons arrived in the mail a few days back (not insured or such)...
But... it seems my package with the true value written on the outside got held up at the border and i had to pay taxes on it...
Well... that's better than getting lost in total, right?
So, I think this was the last part for my never ending server number two, i better get going now and colocate this thing! ^_^

Today was a day filled with memories that will for ever be with me... From an amazing day / hangout with our good friends Adam & Megan to the passing of my fiance grandmother Roena. A day like this made me value every memory I have and to always keep them in my heart, mind and soul. Our loved ones play a huge role in our life and once they are gone all we have is those precious memories...

Since I was a little girl my Dad read this story, with this very book every Christmas Eve. It has continued on through the years to include Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. There is a newer ,beautifully illustrated book of this storty but we still read from this one.
