For self portrait I had to first think what I thought about my self and how to show that. I needed some support on what take a picture of so what I did was I searched other famous artists self portraits to look for some inspiration. While looking at some of the self portraits I realized if i took a picture based on my memories then people could think In their head about who I am instead of me directly telling them in the picture. So I set up my objects that represent my memories in a timeline. So some of the objects goes really far back like ten years ago. In the mirror I am posing in a way so it looks like I am smiling and laughing at my old memories in a reflection through the big mirror. Behind me are some brightly colored scarfs to also represent happiness. This adds another mood to the picture.

I originally planned to make parts of the photo desaturated but then after I added that aspect of happiness and bright colors I realized that I could not desaturate the picture because it would go against one of the themes of the photo. The way I set up the right angle was by putting it on top of the shelf setting it up and then I would get somebody to press the button. I did not allow the person to look through the view finder. This is because I do not want any adjustments to my picture that I did not do. The problem with this method is that the person who was pressing the bottom kept moving the camera from shaky hands by accident. The reason this is a big deal is because the camera was not in a fixed position, it could still move around which caused some problems. The problems it caused was that some of the objects would be cut out of the picture which caused us to have to redo the picture like 20 or so times. After the perfect one was made I looked at the picture and because of a super high iso the picture was really grainy and had a bad quality. This caused me to use flash on my picture. The advantages of the flash is that it reflects to me and does not reflect back on the camera so no object is really shiny because the light waves bounce of the mirror and to me causing me to become really bright. After the “perfect” picture was retaken after ten more tries I finally got the shot I wanted.

You find little things like these up and down whitby , a good place to leave a memory.

Long time ago w/ BugMAN 'n' Sevi

This was an incredibly powerful exercise for me. I now have a phobia of having my photo taken. Looking at these images of me from my childhood, I see a sweet, vulnerable, sensitive child that I was. And I can say that I love her, which I guess is saying that I love myself. Wow - not sure I've ever said that before.

This is how she looks outside. It was cold and windy day.

Pattern: Green Memories by La Maison Rililie. Yarn: Garnstudio DROPS Fabel, Rosários 4 Merino Land, Rowan Fine Lace (held double)

In this photo I tried to have the memory from the old photo be sort of transparent and blurred to represent the past.

Whilst scanning old photos for a separate project, I came across this one of me in my pram as a baby, but I was more fascinated by what's in the shop window behind me!

I have not-so-fond memories of Izal Medicated Toilet Paper which scratched one's nether regions - compared with today's 'quilted double velvet', it was torture!

More images from the Jewish Museum in Berlin. The new part of the museum was designed by Daniel Libeskind, while this art installation - called "Schalechet" (or "Shalekhet"), meaning "Fallen Leaves" - is by Menashe Kadishman.
