The Edward Cosgrave Memorial Charity Fundraiser Tractor Run took place in Longwood, Co. Meath, Ireland on 19th August 2012 at 14:00. The event was run in association with The South Meath Vintage Association and the nominated charity was Rehab. All tractors big and small were welcome to the event. It has been almost to years since the untimely passing of Longwood local Edward Cosgrave. He loved antique tractors and this annual tractor run is a fitting tribute to his memory. The tractor run took a mostly rural country road route from Longwood to Stoneyford to Blackshade to Ashfield and Moyvalley Broadford. The tractors return then via Stoneyford and St. Oliver's Road.

Only a few hours ago I heard about the sudden death of Marsha Ellen Meidow (that's her on the left with her mom on the right)... I knew Marsha as a promoter of the arts here in Calgary, a skilled charity event organizer most notably known for Femme Fatale... She also worked with troubled youth with great vigour and passion, to keep them off the streets and out of trouble...
I just received this in my e-mail shortly before posting this photo...
"It is with great sorrow we must inform you Marsha Ellen Meidow has slipped away and begun another journey. Her spirit shall continue to dance, our memories of her will make us smile and her light will shine within each of us.
Join us in celebrating the Life of the Legendary Marsha Ellen Meidow. We know that Marsha has touched the lives of so many. Everyone is welcome to attend this event. Please know that she passed peacefully without pain, surrounded by her family and love ones. My brother "Butch" was the only brother I had. He died four years ago on my sister Faye's Birthday. So to day is both sad and happy. Sad for the loss but happy for the living. Life must go on. Thanks to you all for you kindness and love that I feel. May God Bless Us All.

AAW Artistic Blur assignment

For this assignment I so wanted to think of summer days and brightness and light! In my part of the world, we are getting there... but slowly.
This is a shot of cyclamen in a pot on my kitchen window sill.
It is a minimum blur (1/6th second) because I wanted you to know it was a plant and flowers, but I did a +EV adjustment to lighten it all and enhance the summery feel. I also applied a blue filter and did some tones adjustment in Elements afterwards.

took this photo in the fog this morning. It reminded me of the "Bare Trees" album by Fleetwood Mac, and my college days. Back then the girls (sorry) would all rave over this album - swoon may be more accurate. The guys would agree, but and then put on Exile On Main Street by the Stones. I drove everyone crazy playing "Can't you hear me knockin?" over and over very loud. - Just a memory I thought I would share from the 70s.

Another shot taken at the Phoenix Botanical Gardens, I decided to just play with textures and layers for this shot. I must say, I like the results of this experiment much more than any I've done in the past =P

An old photo of Louis Jourdan at my mother's... A lot of these pictures (mainly family) are scattered all over her place. As she is gradually losing her memory, these pictures help her to stay connected with a certain past, a past that she remembers with great joy...
Saw a community post, complaining that we need a bowling alley in Orangeville. Sadly, just a few years ago this one was torn down. Ended as "King Pin Bowling" but between the ages of 4-13, I was in a league here when it was dubbed "OK Bowling". I can honestly say that this is (was) my most cherished place in my hometown. The smoke stained air, the amazing (awful) alley food, and the best arcade games. I was super excited when I drove past the demolition & saw the old sign was just covered with a new one. I floored it home to grab my camera in time to snag this shot, before it was gone forever. RIP CHILDHOOD.
I opted to go with simple editing and film style, which is more my style, than the heavy effects/green screen editing in After Effects.
P.S. I really hate that I had to use myself as a subject in this video. But I had no one else :(
