I don't have my camera charger currently, and my camera is dead, so no new photos now.
Instead, I feel like spamming you all with old film photos of Europe from my visit last summer.

Here is some of my immediate family (yeah i have a big family) just missing a couple of siblings, with in laws and nieces and nephews included. This is what I think of when I think of a childhood memory, spending the ENTIRE day outside with your family riding bikes, etc. The best feeling in the world to me.
Also, I'd like to say happy Memorial Day!!! For those who lost their lives fighting for the people they love, I honor and respect all of those who have passed and who are continuing to fight this long fight.

The Everett Naval Station was my husbands first and only duty station while in the Navy. Now he is out of the Navy and a different carrier sits in port but it brings back so many good and bad memories of dropping him off and picking him up from work-ups and deployments. I'm so glad he joined and that we had this life experience. But I am even more glad that he is out now!

Patient: What problem?
Scrapbook found in a tiny New England town's cluttered antique store. Lovely salmon colored embossed cover, with fading gold leaf trims, and stunning graphic elements on front. The inside is filled with gorgeous yellowed paper (unused) and the back shows and embossed patent of March 1876.
Last shot. Ye olde flash card was full and just as I was getting used to panning a behemoth lens on a ill-balanced (biggish) ball head.

Perhaps I should whisper that this is my favourite Thistle, seeing as it is a weed : ) It is called Musk Thistle, also Nodding Thistle, and was introduced from Europe and North Africa. A member of the Aster family, it grows to 60-250 cm tall, with flower heads that are 1.5-8 cm across. This particular plant was growing on 23rd July 2008 at the Erlton/Roxboro Natural Area. It was past its prime, as the purple disc florets have died, but I am always fascinated with the spine-tipped, inner and outer bracts. I am always given the chance to photograph them before they are pulled, LOL.
Finally bought two new external drives this afternoon - wish I could wave a magic wand and discover the last 15 months' worth of images magically transferred to them, LOL! I've taken a ton of photos on most of the days during that time ... sigh! I transfer them one folder at a time.
Did a three and a half hour walk by the Glenmore Reservoir, south side, this morning. I've only done one day of walking in about the last 10 days, and my poor old body is painfully paying the price : (. Highlights were a Long-tailed Duck and a Pacific Loon on the Reservoir, plus various kinds of Grebe and White-winged Scoters. Several Trumpeter Swans flew overhead in formation, too - lovely to see them at this time of the year. Temperature was around 4C, and it was overcast most of the time, but it was a gorgeous morning for a walk.
