The Union Pacific Dining Hall is a very large and well proportioned building. It's hard to appreciate the scale until you realize that it is possible to park a Chevy Suburban, sideways in the fireplace inside the hall.
Early rail visitors disembarked here and entered for a mid day meal. It easily seats 300. This rail terminus was abandoned by the Union Pacific Railroad in the mid 60's and the entire railroad terminus was deeded to West Yellowstone in 1966.
It's undergoing a full restoration. A new roof was added last year: new thermopane windows, (to original sizes and shapes,) this year. Sealing of beams & rafters, (whole trees,) is ongoing.
