I quite enjoyed making these guys and could well be persuaded to make a full army of them with the right army list (I’ve got the Tempus Fugitives list but its not exactly official so maybe wait till Forgeworld or White Dwarf publish a list.

Very quick paint jobs - a bit more than an hour per rat - but they need refining and speeding up a bit more as the metals are still just blocked in.

The main part (skin) is stippled Ungor Flesh over mahogany primer followed by a drybrush of white ink and then glazed down with contrast paints. Initially a 50/50 flesh tone, then spot glazes of pink and purple, highlights of Ungor Flesh and Pallid Wych Flesh, with a final very thin flesh tone glaze to tie it together.

Cloth is Militarum Green with Elysian Green/Rakarth Flesh highlights and a bit of Terradon Turqoise to enrich the shadows.

As the scuplts are a bit soft in place it helped to line around all the cloth and some other volumes with Wyldwood to separate them.

Other details are Mechanicus Grey with Basilicanum Grey for the fur, drybrushed with Celestra Grey and white ink.

Eyes are Blood Angels Red over Wraithbone.

Citadel Black Primer Spray 2 x Cans

2 Pots Watered Down Mechanicus Standard Grey dabbed on with a sponge

Cital White Spray 2 x Cans

I sponged chips onto the black bits with Mechanicus Standard Grey and added a few streaks with a brush. Then dry-brused with Administratum Grey and washed with Nuln Oil to tone it down again.

I mixed tiny quantities of Red Madder and Cadmium Red oils and blended that over the upper outer portions of the bodywork to enrich the colour. I also blended a little Raw Umber and a Raw Umber/Titanium White mix onto the lower body sides and inside the arches as road dirt.

The wheels have had their centres painted black and the rims touched in with a Molotow chrome pen. I dry-brushed the tire tread with Administratum Grey and then washed the entire tyre with a mix of Zandri Dust and Nuln Oil, rolling it off onto paper to clean the tread surfaces. Finally I drybrished Zandri Dust onto the outer corners of the tread blocks.

The weapons have also been gussied up a little, with a wash of Athonian Camoshade and edge highlights of Ogryn Camo.

Lastly I painted the interior using Screaming Skull and Zandri Dust for the leather, and Khorne Red/Mephiston Red for the belts. I washed the seats with Agrax and the rest of the space with Nuln Oil and then dry-brushed a little Mechanicus Grey and Adminstratum Grey around.

Hopefully painting some spokes onto the wheel will make it look less like a burned potato cake...

The gunner was originally painted blue, but I have repainted him red to symbolize the Mechanicus with a blue and gold 2nd company shoulder pad.

My heavily converted Adeptus Mechanicus army. Converted mainly from Space Marine bodies, Westwind Productions heads and Green Stuff.
