So we decided to get the meatloaf at Jack's (Crapé) Cafe and ended up get a mild case of food poisoning that night as the storm pushed in, not a pleasant night. I don't suggest eating at Jacks.
This cake is from a Martha Stewart recipe for a meatloaf birthday cake. The "frosting" is mashed potatoes and the decorations are carrots and peas. It tastes great and is great if you have a meat and potatoes lover in the house.

Like my recipe for sweet and sour meatballs, this recipe uses quinoa in place of breadcrumbs. This substitution does little in the way of reducing calories, but it certainlly ups the nutrtional value of the meal

That's 2 pounds of meat (mixed beef and pork) a big onion --finely chopped, while weeping-- a cup of crushed dried bread --I kept some slices apart and let them dry out completely over a couple of days, then crushed them in my spice-mortar-- a big spoonfull of concentrated tomato, a spoonfull of spices and two eggs to bind it all together.
As a special I added a small cup of diced and baked bacon
Yelp wasn't much help in Punxsutawney. We did find one recommended cafe, but it was closed. A bit of driving around led us to Lily's.
It turned out to be a good choice. The food was good and remarkably cheap. And I saw so few groundhog references in the store I thought maybe we'd left Punxsutawney.
The gravy over the fries got me ready for some poutine.
