Digital Design and Fabrication" assembled at the Ceramics Program to learn the basics of fabrication with clay. Mold making and casting, slab construction, using the extruder, and clay chemistry were demonstrated and discussed. Students will draw heavily on these methods during their semester-long design research projects.

Le site patrimonial de La Grave est un ensemble de bâtiments et de structures relié à l'activité traditionnelle de la pêche. Ce site contient 33 bâtiments aux volumes et aux matériaux similaires. Ces constructions en bois, érigées au cours des XIXe et XXe siècles, occupent un isthme en forme d'hameçon de quelques mètres de largeur reliant la pointe Shea et le cap Gridley, en bordure du golfe du Saint-Laurent. La Grave serait le premier site colonisé aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine. Il l'a été par les Acadiens, eux-mêmes précédés par les Micmacs. Après avoir été fréquentée par des Amérindiens et des pêcheurs basques, bretons et normands au 16e siècle, la Grave vit s’installer, en 1762, quelques familles majoritairement acadiennes, en compagnie de l’entrepreneur Richard Gridley. Ils exploitaient alors le site principalement pour la pêche et la chasse au morse. Plusieurs autres réfugiés de la déportation des Acadiens y arrivèrent dans les années suivantes. Ce lieu authentique témoigne du passé et conserve son cachet architectural et traditionnel. Cette mince bande de terre enclavée entre deux anses est le berceau du peuplement des Îles et à partir du 19e siècle le coeur de l'industrie de la pêche. Pêcheurs, marchands, ouvriers et gens de métier s’y rassemblaient pour débarquer et transformer les produits de la pêche. L’avènement des grandes usines de transformation, la construction des entrepôts frigorifiques et l’évolution des moyens de transport ont amené les pêcheurs à délaisser graduellement la grave vers 1950. Le site est toutefois restauré à compter de 1977 avec le concours du Musée de la mer.
La grave désignait autrefois une plage recouverte de galets où on pouvait faire sécher le poisson.
