A nature photograph of mine of a Rainbow Lorikeet resting in a gum tree with red gum nut blossoms. The Rainbow Lorikeet is a nectar eater and loves the nectar that these gum nuts produce.

The rainbow lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus) is a species of parrot found in Australia. It is common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia and Tasmania. Its habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas. Several taxa traditionally listed as subspecies of the rainbow lorikeet are now treated as separate species (see Taxonomy).
Rainbow lorikeets have been introduced to Perth, Western Australia, Auckland, New Zealand and Hong Kong.

Corymbia calophylla, Marri, Red Gum
The Marri is closely related to the Red-flowering gum (Corymbia ficifolia) but is generally much larger, with a thicker trunk, white or pink flowers and larger nuts (fruits). It is found through varying regions in the southwest of WA and as such can tolerate wide-ranging soil types and sites. Flowers arrive in late summer often in profuse and showy displays. The Marri has been used to great effect around Perth; its mature size suiting its use in parks, golf courses and other open spaces.
The Redgum or Corymbia calophylla trees are flowering fantastically at the moment. These spectacular trees are covered with masses of creamy-white flowers - commonly seen throughout the south west of Western Australia.
So pretty against the sky.

Here's a panorama of the Pink Marri Eucalyptus (Corymbia calophylla) that's currently flowering profusely in the gardens of the Belvidere Manor Hotel. You can easily see this tree from the other side of the Knysna estuary while driving along Lagoon Drive. It sticks out like a sore thumb!
I spent some time sitting on this bench yesterday, absorbing the natural energy of this remarkable tree, while thinking about Life, the Universe and Everything else (in between). How long has this tree been growing here and how many people have sat on this bench before me? Did they also feel a sudden jolt of positive energy as soon as they sat down? Why is it that spending time with trees often feels more rewarding to me than spending my time with (most) other people? Will this photo also be included in my next coffee-table photo-book about the most "Remarkable Trees in Urban Knysna"?
At this stage, I only know the answer to one of those questions.
In 2018 steam returned to the Watford Miniature Railway and on the 2nd of February 2019 resident Marri made a ran in the fresh snow
Seemed to be the preponderant species on the property. The Marri trees were in full blossom and the March flies were problematic.

Purple-crowned Lorikeet - Glossopsitta porphyrocephala
There are plenty of these around at present - feeding on Marri and Karri blossom, unfortunately mainly on tall trees, so not easy to get close!

Pues eso, que ya voy para un cuarto de siglo que me casé aquí.
I've got married in this beautiful romanesque church, Santa María.

The three churches were built close to the placement of old Ègara as see of Ègara Diocese, created about the year 450 and which remained until VIIIth century ... (keep reading here. EN Wikipedia)
