My husband and I were sitting out on the front porch one evening and mama came along and climbed up in the big maple tree and sort of hung out with us. The tree is huge as you can see by the size of the trunk and very tall but she only went about 5 feet up and directly in front of us. She seemed quite relaxed.

We must remember that trees are our best friends. They are

always by our side to hug us with their caring branches like that of

open arms.

Zoom in and see if you can climb it :)

Taken by my spouse with his 200mm macro and old D4. After my accident with that remarkable lens--and repairs by Nikon are good, but I almost could have purchased a new one for the same price--I do not borrow this rather dear lens.

Thank you for your visits, faves and comments. Have a great day and weekend! 😊 🍁

One of the beautiful valleys on the eastern side of the Olympic peninsula.

Autumn in Melbourne is always beautiful, with many wonderful deciduous trees full of colour like this Japanese Maple, one of my favourites, which I have been visiting regularly on my walks over the last month. It is now ablaze with the last of its beautiful reds, oranges and golds! And all too soon this autumnal ephemera will be gone until next year.

The day I took this photo was a lovely and sunny day with bright blue skies, although there was a crispness in the air. I thought I'd go for a walk and take advantage of the sunny conditions, as rain arrived the day after.

When I was a child, I was told by my beloved grandparents that the winged seed pods of English maple trees were translucent faerie wings waiting to be collected by their new owners.

Autumn is now well and truly with us here in Melbourne, and the cooler winds of seasonal change are blowing away the remnants of summer, like it tosses the red, gold and orange leaves that carpet the ground.

Today was a perfect autumnal day in Melbourne: sunny, but not too bright, warm, but not hot, and perfectly still. Therefore I thought I'd go for a walk and take advantage of the sunny conditions and take some photographs.

I have taken several hundred, some of which I will upload over the coming months. However this one of the winged maple seeds which reminded me of by childhood in England particularly resonated with me, so I thought I would upload it without delay.

Autumn in Melbourne is always beautiful, with many wonderful deciduous trees full of colour like this Japanese Maple, one of my favourites, which I caught as it is starting to turn one on one of my walks the other week. This leaf puts me in mind of beautiful red patent shoe leather, and reminded me of the faerie tale The Goblin Cobblers (perhaps more commonly known as The Elves and the Shoemaker) by the Brothers Grimm.

I am always very cautious of going very far along this trail and will only come here in the afternoon or very late morning. This trail has a reputation for many Black Bear sightings! I don't want to run into a bear while I am by myself with my camera. I have no gun or pepper spray for defence. I have talked to lots of birders who have encountered bears at this location and even had bears cross the road early morning where the trail starts.

On the banks of the Saco River, summer has started to give way to autumn, here in New Hampshire. It's only a matter of time now.

Yesterday I took my old camera and old lens to wander around in the rain. The maple trees that were here grow tall and too close to the house. But for now we won’t have to make a decision.

Shooting in RAW allows for a lot of mistakes. Mostly, however, this is about as shot.

Trying to push the Winter away as fast as I can.

Every year, the 2 blocks of Cambridge St between Slocan and Kamloops St burst into a dazzling red archway. Many photos are snapped under these trees.

Enjoy and stay safe!
