A sunlit maple leaning into late afternoon sunshine in the beginning of November

A followup to yesterday's post using one an Janet Broughton's textures from her "Glorious Greys" collection.

Along the road in Meredith, NH

I lucked out today and this little lady decided to grab a rest right in front of me. Not only did she pop by for a visit but she stayed long enough for me to readjust the camera settings and snap this shot.

Every once in a while; a photo just lands in front of you face and you'd be silly to pass that by. (especially with a camera in hand)

Hope everyone is staying safe and doing well.

This maple tree at the South River Overlook in the Central District is often photographed during the Autumn season. Saturday morning's light rain & fog provided a beautiful natural contrast.

I used the built-in HDR feature of the Canon 6D for this photo.

That time of year thou may'st in me behold

When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang

Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,

Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.

In me thou see'st the twilight of such day,

As after sunset fadeth in the west,

Which by-and-by black night doth take away,

Death's second self, that seals up all in rest.

In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire

That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,

As the death-bed whereon it must expire

Consum'd with that which it was nourish'd by.

This thou perceivest, which makes thy love more strong,

To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

- Shakespeare

On an wintry December day in NJ, ice accumulated on this leaf still clinging to this maple tree. The icicles hanging off the leaf were what caught my eye - unusual and striking to me. Gives a certain sense of cold and icy.

Autumn in East Tennessee

===》got now 4 different maples on my roof terrace. This is the first who already got beautiful leafes...

This is a follow-up image of my last post, and they show Japanese maples in very different season and conditions. This version was taken during peak fall at Kubota Garden in Seattle.

Story behind the scene: Before I took this image, I had seen photos of this tree online and knew it should be somewhere in the garden, but it took me three visits to finally locate it. Large as it looks in the image, the tree is actually very small and hide itself in bushes. Photography-wise, It was a very tricky location to set up the tripod and frame the tree. I tried my 15mm ultra-wide angle lens, but I have to step way back to include the tree in its entirety, which makes the tree very small in the frame. Luckily, I happened to have a fish-eye lens with me, and after some trials, I was able to photograph this tree in one frame and really exaggerate its unique shape with the perspective distortion. This might be one reason why I love wide-angle lens so much, because you can really be creative in the process and capture unique looking images that are outside of people's normal perspective.

Autumn, when the maples turn enchantingly colorful and nature reveals a magical spectacle whose secret only she knows.

Two log buildings at Pioneer Village at Caesar Creek Lake in southwest Ohio. Perfect weather and a great day for a hike. Many of the historical homes were moved to Pioneer Village at the start of building the flood control Caesar Creek Lake.

Fall Birch

A solitary birch stands in a forest of maple and poplar. The bright white bark is a huge contrast to the brown and grey of the other trees. The accents of gold, yellow, and red leaves that carpet the ground really add to the birch's black and white bands. The autumn light filters through the leaves, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

the perfect snapshot of the changing seasons.

Happy Easter Everyone!

"The fruits of maple trees (Acer spp.) are called samaras, but kids of all ages call them helicopters.

(or Poly Noses, as my dear flickr friend, Angela, calls them).

Each seed has its own little wings that allow it to spiral downward and plant itself in the soil below."

I guess we are just little kids at heart, as we couldn't resist creating this collage with found maple seeds!

The trunks on the trees in my yard are quite large. I suspect this one and the one with the chairs up against it are around 70 years old.

Taken on a stroll trough Washington Park.

Happy fence Friday, everyone.

This colorful maple tree in full autumn color graces a backyard just down the road from my place, here in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Spotted on October 27, 2019.

This maple tree is among the last trees to loose it's folliage.

Out'n about driving northwest of home looking for fall colours and turning down this road then turning down that road, I came upon a driveway, where? I have no idea

Olympic National Forest.

This Northern cardinal is all fluffed up against the cold, dry snow. We ended up with ~8 inches (20.5 cm) of powdery stuff across two days of intermittent flurries. The bird feeders and open water of the pond were effective lures. Luckily we were not in the path of the ice/freezing rain, we know from experience that is devastating.

Yunoko Lake in Oku-Nikko or Upper Nikko is a fresh water lake, located at the altitude of 1478 meters. It constitutes a part of Oku-Nikko Wetland, registered under Ramsar Convention together with Senjogahara and Odashirogahara. To the north of the lake is Yumoto, town of Hot Springs, with over a dozen of hotels and Japanese inns.

The waters of the lake flow into Yutaki Falls (also pronounced Yudaki Falls), which is 70 meters high and 100 meters long, presenting impressive and wonderful view. The view of the lake and waterfall is particularly good in autumn. [Explored]

A scene that I’ve shot several times over the years in various conditions, and every time I visit this spot, it amazes me how green and lush the area is. At the time that I captured this scene, everything was still.....the landscape was quiet. Occasionally you’d get a cool subtle breeze, but the landscape stood still. Almost if the rainforest was asking for its picture to be taken. I love when nature talks like this. It’s moments like this that I enjoy when I’m out with my camera. I just observe. I watch, I listen.

Who says "you cant go home again...?"

May we all find our way to where we want to be.
