I've been having fun with the panoramic shots lately. This one is a six shot capture of the Big Quilcene river.
Last week I was enjoying my second spring hiking, and I suddenly spotted an awesome tree with leaves with this color, and I had to take some shots from it. I love their pastern, and they are also part of a flag, the Canadian flag:

I had to admit that when I saw the tree, I intermediately thought of Autumn, and here is why...

I specially love trees, birds and flowers, but there is so much to see, enjoy and capture during a long hiking trip, a lake, a conservation area, forest or park, the list of places is very long, that‘s why I‘m a photographer!
Graphic design is another way to express myself. I love reinventing a photo that I have seen, in different ways. I use Photoshop to do these transformations, and I also my own photos to create textures.

Macro Mondays : Stick
Not enought time for this week theme , so I decided to take this picture of my Maple tree.
Finnaly , it's not so bad .And suddenly I remembered this song " Knock On Wood" , I was 10 ;-)

Wandiligong is a town in north-eastern Victoria in the alpine region around 330 kilometres from Melbourne. Established in the 1850s as part of the Victorian Gold Rush, Wandiligong became a hub for many gold miners, including a large Chinese community. At its peak, the town was home to over two thousand inhabitants and boasted shops, churches, a public library, halls and even an hotel. Much has changed since those heady days of the gold rush, and the picturesque town nestled in a valley and built around the Morses Creek, is now a sleepy little town full of picturesque houses which are often let to visitors to the area. The whole town is registered with the National Trust of Australia for its historic landscape and buildings of historic value.
This Swainson's thrush (Catharus ustulatus) watched the stream and other birds but didn't leave the tree. I guess we all have our fear of being watched. During fall and spring migration, their soft, bell-like overhead “peeps” may be mistaken for the calls of frogs. Another bird that I saw from movement rather than song.

30 feet from yesterday's fallen giant, I found this young Maple tree bursting with life and beauty.
One tree at the end of its long life, another tree at the beginning of its vibrant life...
Lake Michigan is there in the background.

Last Friday, a dear Flickr friend whom I made the acquaintance of before Coronavirus, and I met for the first time. We have bonded over time over history and fossicking for treasures. We always kept saying that we were going to go out and visit a cemetery or two (another commonality that bonded us), yet for various reasons, it just never happened. Like the kind and generous gentleman that he is, he took me to the Box Hill Cemetery in the inner Eastern suburb of Melbourne. It was a place I have been past before, wanted to visit, but just never got around to going there. We had a wonderful day exploring the graves of well known Melbournians buried there, including Sidney Myer, owner of the famous Melbourne department store on Bourke Street and Cyril Percy Callister, inventor of Vegemite (a product I have never acquired the taste for). A beautiful and well laid out cemetery, Box Hill also has some lovely Victorian and Edwardian gravestones, including this one of a child sitting and reading. I only caught a glimpse of the back of it. Framed by autumnal maple leaves, it was too good an opportunity not to photograph from this angle.
This image is dedicated to my dear Flickr friend as a thank you to him for his kindness, generosity and great company. I hope this is the first of many more trips with him to interesting and historical places I have never been to.

It is just about deer hunting season and the only way we would ever shot this fellow is with a camera. These fellows are not shy and roam our property at will. We love them, they love the garden more.

Early morning sun on the maple produced vivid colors against a blue sky with scattered clouds. Wonderful morning!

Captured this with three RAW shots at -2..0..+2 EV. Digital blending in Photoshop CS6. Increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. 1 layer mask in soft light mode at 50% gray, using brush tool to lighten and darken some areas of the image, to bring out details. Topaz DeNoise to reduce noise. Topaz Clarity to increase color and contrast some more.
Fall Color of the Maple Tree at Portland Japanese Garden. Another one from my archive. The Portland Japanese Garden will be closed for their expansion project from September 8 till March of 2016. So, that means that we will not be able to photograph this tree during this fall. So I am falling back on my previous shots from the garden. This happens to be from the fall of 2011. Enjoy!
