My unsteady hand and a slight breeze provided quite the challenge of focus. (Not to mention trying to convince my camera phone what I really want to focus on) After several attempts I finally caught the maple seeds, called samaras, from a beautiful tree on my "drive home beauty appreciation tour."

I took a trip out to Lost Maples to see the foliage. Unfortunately, Mother Nature wasn't the most cooperative this year, and the colors weren't as great as when I had visited 4 years ago. It was still great to see some color and to be outdoors!

Glowing Maple (III) by Bad Alley (Cat)

In the Charles Sauriol Conservation Area, along the Don Valley trails, there's a small clearing, in the midst of which stands this majestic maple. Its brilliant yellow leaves -- half on the tree, and half on the ground -- made the whole area glow golden.
