This tree is a little lopsided - a thunderstorm of extraordinary violence ripped out part of the right half of the tree 3 years ago. New growth has partially filled that back in. Brilliant red in autumn. Pic taken in November, 2011.
Tender corn muffins studded with corn kernels, bacon, and jalapeno. The muffin is rich with rendered bacon fat, butter, whole milk yogurt, maple syrup, and a touch of chipotle for kicks.
Recipe loosely adapted from Melissa Clark's brown butter cornbread.

My Dutch friend Marc Mommaas (a jazz musician) and American Mara (a dear friend of my wife's) took me on a little tour of decent cafes. We had an awesome brunch here, but I can't remember the name of it.
Lovely day and some lovely folks. Could get used to hanging out with them.

It was a wet and miserable day yesterday, but in between the heavy rain, the sun would try to come out, and it felt quite warm. I'm trying not to bore everyone with photos of my maple, but the colours, shapes and light, bring out my creative side lol

This tress gets more amazing every autumn. The name is October Glory Maple, but at this latitude it's a November performer.
