The leaf is from a tree in our garden. I photographed it after taping it to a window in our conservatory. My initial plan was to use a tripod but I could not get it close enough to the window and so I hand held the camera.

Day 325/365 - Fire Red Maple

Butchart Gardens, Central Saanich, Victoria BC

The maple leaf is of course associated with Canada and is on her flag, however many varieties of the tree will grow in other parts of the world wherever the climate suits them. In Australia, they'll grow in the southern states and do especially well in the cooler mountain areas where they show their finest colours each Autumn (Fall).

Some keen amateur growers in the island state of Tasmania, produce their own syrup where that variety of the maple will grow in the coldest areas.

Maple Leaves change colors. It is a beautiful time of the year.

Took this a while back and it looked pretty...bad. That's why I didn't look at it for a while. But now I like it (not because I edited it, which I did, but I just...I like it now). This is a red maple leaf tree I think is what it's called. :D

Japanese maple, Takumar 200mm.

Fall was good this year. We actually had soem color. This is part of a small glade at the park I walk the dogs at daily when there is enough light after work.

We have this one sugar maple smack in the middle of the property. Its location is highly inconvenient to my landscaping plans, but the colors it displays in October and November have guaranteed that we'll keep it.

On the ground next to my car in Almont, Michigan.

This Japanese maple, in Camden, in southern Arkansas USA, was planted in memory of my nephew Will. Will left this life while still a teen. We miss him. His tree is growing to be a lovely memorial.
