Red maple maybe? Sugar maple should have smooth leaf margins, but these looked different from the other red maple leaves I saw.
The leaves at the Fourth of July Campground are red. This shot taken on the Mid-Week Marauders' shoot on Wednesday 10/10/2012
I didn't have a chance to eat anything here, but I thought it was interesting that the McDonald's logo has a Canadian maple leaf on it everywhere in Canada.

This Japanese maple, in Camden, in southern Arkansas USA, was planted in memory of my nephew Will. Will left this life while still a teen. We miss him. His tree is growing to be a lovely memorial.

I made maple baked beans for dinner tonight.
It was awesome. I'm definitely making this again.
Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 tsp canola oil
1 small onion
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp smoked paprika
2 540 mL cans of navy beans
1/2 cup of water
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a saucepan. Chop onions and saute for about 4 minutes.
2. Stir molasses, maple syrup, tomato paste, mustard, salt, and paprika. Add beans and water. Boil, then reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, covered, until beans are brown and sauce is thickened. Add more water as needed. About 25 minutes.

I took a LOT of shots of these maple trees in a campground next to Grant Lake. The colors ranged from subtle pastels to bright oranges with red veining. I spent several hours here, just focusing on two different trees with accessible leaves. Yep, I will have a lot of images to share as these are among my favorites of the season.
