I managed to fix and stabilize her broken neck piece by re-attaching them and putting thin layers of nail glue over the entire section.

I was able to remove her clothes because one arm is detachable with a metal pin at the base. Her body is made out of resin, probably cast in two halves and then put together and painted. There’s a button on the back, which raises the arms when pressed like she’s granting a wish (Obvious I Dream Of Jeannie inspo in this doll!) There’s also a sticker with the number 8 on it, probably a model number. Whether this stands for the stage of design or something else, I don’t know. Maybe it’s a marker for where she was placed at the TF display?

Her head is a standard vinyl Bratz head but parts of the lower portion have been carved and rebuilt with some kind of clay (epoxy I think) after the parts were put in. The tiara (diadem? Bindi?) is a metal chain glued to her forehead and separate gemstones glued underneath.

Her hair is fully rooted saran! She even has a thatched parting (which is easy to tell if you know how rooting patterns work) her ponytail is VERY stable even after all these years and her ribbon decoration is glued to the braid.

1215 End of Conference

This year’s CEO VIP reception and gala were hosted at Metro Convention Centre, in Toronto | Learn more about Canada’s Best Managed Companies.

CEO VIP reception: An exclusive reception for the CEOs of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies and program sponsors, this event was an opportunity for the new winners to get together in a more intimate environment before they joined the gala.

Gala: The Best Managed gala dinner was hosted by Ben Mulroney who guided almost 1900 guests, winning CEOs, their senior management teams and families, through a celebration as we honoured the best. Great Big Sea set the stage with some of their high voltage hits throughout the night.

Managed to find a quiet passageway at Goodge Street (as far as I remember!) underground station. I blended 3 shots for this HDR.

The Great Leader's portrait appears in the vintage faux leather hardcover "Juche Art." Stage-managing the Mad magazine slogan beneath Him makes this a no-no pic in the DPRK (heh heh) and a no-no pic in Seoul (no DPRK materials allowed). Only in the imperalist aggressor US is this a legal picture. ;-)

Here is a slide from a recent talent strategy presentation at ZURB. We're big on opportunity and it's the quality we like to see in our Leads.

This particular diagram highlights three ways a Lead can manage at ZURB. Although all three ways are necessary to make our organization tick, we want to err on the side of 'opportunity'. It's the difference between good stuff happening in 'hours' versus 'weeks'.

ZURB is a close-knit team of interaction designers and strategists that help companies design better (www.zurb.com).

Ale managed to capture a Francolin against the light.

The plateau known as the Kalahari Desert is more savannah than desert, which becomes remarkably green after some rain. Covering most of the Southern African geography including Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, the Kalahari and its surrounding basin provides the scene for the spectacular Okavango Delta. From the air, the ancient dry beds, known as Omuramba can still clearly be seen. and depending on the rain are still capable of holding water. The resultant ecosystem is suprisingly rich with animal life, which obviously increses as you move north towards the Delta.

Apart from the Okavango Delta, the Kalahari was also brought to global attention by Mark and Delia Owen's book Cry of the Kalahari. The book argues against the controversial Veterinary fences, yet reads like a better version of Born Free, and was turned into a National Geographic documentary. Finding ourselves in the semi-arid setting of the Kalahari to start our trip into Botswana quickly brought the book to life.

In 2015-16, the Standing Panel on Impact Assessment commissioned a set of studies to document the adoption and impact of five well-recognized natural resource practices that were developed, adapted, and promoted by CGIAR centers, research programs and its partners. The practices—conservation agriculture, fertilizer tree systems, alternate wetting and drying (AWD), integrated soil fertility management (ISFM), and micro-dosing of fertilizer—were all expected to enjoy large-scale acceptance among smallholder farmers where they were promoted in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Results have landed and they are sobering. The low adoption rates reported by these studies provide an important reality check on the returns to some natural resources management (NRM) research investments, and suggests the need to rethink the impact pathways through which NRM research is expected to contribute to sustainable development outcomes—outcomes that nonetheless depend acutely on changes in the way we manage scarce natural resources.

This policy seminar provides insights from economics, integrated landscape strategies, and geospatial analytics to recommend ways forward for NRM research that most effectively contribute to the development of sustainable production systems, while also highlighting innovative methods and tools to evaluate adoption and impact more precisely.

The authorities are firmly committed to addressing Egypt’s economic and financial challenges with the objective of restoring sustained and socially-balanced growth, and they are already taking encouraging actions in this direction. Work will continue with the objective of reaching agreement on an IMF Stand-By Arrangement to support the authorities’ national economic program in the coming weeks.”
