My story begins in the Dakkar Marshlands.

My mother was a human; and my father was the orc that somehow had managed to win her heart. I personally believe that there is more to that story and it is probably more likely that my mother was a spoil of wartime. Either way my mother died shorlty after childbirth, and given the horrible conditions that she was forced to give birth in, an orcish settlement deep within the Barrow Mountains, it was no surprise

My father was one of the strongest warriors of the tribe, the Tribe of One Horn, but a half-orc child got him shunned by the tribe. He was given the choice to kill me or be exiled from the tribe. Surprisingly, he chose me. He gathered everything he could carry, including myself, and fled to the Dakkar Marshlands, to an encampement that had been set up within the ruins of Althesor, once a great city that fell into ruins when the Dakkar Marshlands swallowed it. It was now a place of refuge for those of mixed bloods, elves, humans, dwarves, and even a few other half-orcs, they all called the Althesor ruins home.

And it was there I grew up. It was not easy, for the marshlands surrounding the ruins wre filled with all sorts of fey beasts. Yet somehow, my father and I managed. Over the years, he trained me in the way of the blade. He started when I was an orcling, allowing me to use daggars and knives, moving up to larger blades the older I grew. My father was a night guard of Althesor, so while i slept he patroled the perimeter. During the day, he would train me in swordplay, sparring and showing me how to use the blade as an extension.

For an orc he was astoundingly intelligent. And seeing as I was half-orc, I caught on quickly, excelling under his tuteleage.

Then in my twentieth year, the Year of the Soulfire, my father was slain by a marauding band of lizardfolk, who also called the marshlands home.I took the oppritunity.

I donned my father's armor, and took up his blades. I gathered a few supplies and I left the Althesor ruins...having no idea where this first step would take me...

A creature in a pleasant world of her own. Perhaps I need my own little companion to watch snuggle up in the evenings.

Managed to take a walk along the beck in Skipton woods during the only dry and sunny weekend for ages.

The light wasn't soft and diffuse so some things are too bright and others too dark but there were some lovely reflections and the water looked like a river of gold when seen at the correct angle.

I managed to get my hair to look like Moss from the IT Crowd! If you haven't seen the show at all, it's definitely worth checking out. It's a hilarious BBC sitcom about the lives of a company's IT department.

Also, I made it to day 70! Once again, I think it's crazy that I've made it this far.

In 2015, 193 countries adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a new global agenda that is more ambitious than the preceding Millennium Development Goals and aims to make progress on some of the most pressing issues of our time. Goal 4, "To ensure inclusive and quality education for all, with relevant and effective learning outcomes," challenges the international education community to meet universal access plus learning by 2030. We know that access to primary schooling has scaled up rapidly over previous decades, but what can be learned from places where transformational changes in learning have occurred? What can governments, civil society, and the private sector do to more actively scale up quality learning?

On April 18-19, the Center for Universal Education (CUE) at Brookings launched "Millions Learning: Scaling Up Quality Education in Developing Countries," a comprehensive study that examines where learning has improved around the world and what factors have contributed to that process. This two-day event included two sessions. Monday, April 18 focused on the role of global actors in accelerating progress to meeting the SDGs. The second session on Tuesday, April 19 included a presentation of the Millions Learning report followed by panel discussions on the role of financing and technology in scaling education in developing countries.

Day 315-I managed to get up early today and I worked on my second paper for the next book, which is due next Tuesday. After completing 4 sections (my goal), I decided to fix up my wall next to my bed. I know this is kind of offset (AGAIN) but I wanted to make sure you saw the slight difference in how I set it up.

Went from big poster of 11th Doctor (now retired) to a piece of art by my friend Jane titled "My Mother's Scissors" (which I got for my birthday for myself a number of years ago) and next to that is my pic with John Cusack, whom I met and spoke to at the Fan Expo last weekend. On the armoire, is some other photos I have of people, (L-Rose McGowan, R-Ming-Na Wen) with the Doctor Who group photo also from last weekend being the center piece. Quite the day.

324/365. 20 November 2010

Managed to stay awake long enough to write this, but then again it's not that difficult considering I'm all a buzz with excitement because my team Spurs just broke a 17 year hoodoo and beat their north London rivals Arsenal!

Went out tonight, with camera in tow. Was ready to take some party shots, when I turned my camera on and... there on the screen were the 2 words photographers hate to see - No Card!

How in the world I forgot to put the card in is beyond me. I've been carrying the camera religiously for the past 323 days, and today I forget to put the card in.

So I get back home without a shot to show for the day. I turn to my go to shot and take a night shot of the rooftop next door from my balcony. And in my joy, I also added the Spurs logo. So shout it from the rooftops people "C'mon you Spurs!" More tomorrow!
