I finally managed to sneak down the Kukui Trail and found some nice clouds here at Waimea Canyon. Then the sun broke through clouds and cast some cool and interesting light over the landscape. After reviewing this photo, I wished I had taken out the 70-200 to pick the landscape apart piece by piece, but alas, Live and learn. :)

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great day :)

If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Whilst this charming youngster- was on the go a great deal, I did manage to get a few moments where he stayed put longer than one second!!

Many times he tried to take off with the photography mat!!

Captured with love at British Wildlife Centre, UK

Managed to get nice and close with the 2x on! Slightly cropped to straighten the image. Abberton reservoir.

We had a walk in an oak wood today as the autumn colours from them are stunning at the moment. Unfortunately I couldn't walk for any length of time as my gammy leg was causing me so much gyp. I did though manage to capture a few shots including this of a wonderful oak in full colour.

Record shot only. It was the only one I managed to see and that was at a distance.

Unlike many duck families on the pond which are managed by single Mums, both male and female Grebes jointly care for their youngs - with love and devotion 😍

Well I managed to test negative after my five days isolation in Maura's apartment in Italy, so now we're mountain biking in Valle Maira. the combination of wild flowers and dramatic mountains is stunning. My legs are struggling with so many steep climbs and never ending ascents, but the rewards and downhills are well worth the effort. Simply Beautiful is by Al Green

I managed to visit Kangaroo Island during my trip to Adelaide for the opening of the ANZANG exhibition at the SA Museum which includes my "Stormlight & Stardust" image. This is from a bay on the island being belted by storms over the Southern Ocean. Next stop from the edge here is Antarctica! It's been a long while since I've been able to shoot any seascapes, a conscious effort to expand the portfolio in other areas.

On how I managed to diffuse a potentially explosive situation.

I was sat on a bench approximately 50 metres across from this family and noticed their reflections in the puddle. I took about five or six shots and noticed with each one the boy with his hands in his pockets became more and more agitated.

He eventually marched over to me and demanded to know why I was taking photographs of his family.

I smiled politely and assured him I wasn't taking photographs of his family, I was taking photographs of the puddle.

He thought for a moment, I could see he was in a mucking fuddle, then he said, Oh, that's alright then and calmly walked away.

As did I before the penny dropped!

The Oriented Natural Reserve of the Saline di Trapani and Paceco is a protected natural area of Sicily that extends for almost 1000 hectares in the territory of the municipalities of Trapani and Paceco.

The reserve, within which the ancient activity of extraction of sea salt is carried out, is an important wetland, which offers shelter to numerous species of migratory birds. It is managed by WWF Italy.

Much of the Reserve is made up of privately owned salt pans, where salt extraction is still practiced according to traditional techniques in use for centuries.

The presence of numerous windmills is of considerable landscape impact.

They are traditionally of different types: those used to pump water between basins, the mill for lifting the water, and finally those for grinding salt crystals.

Cette végétation contre un mur semblait tenter très fort ce jeune cygne et en tendant fortement son cou il est parvenu à en manger sous l'oeil intéressé de son frère.

This vegetation against a wall seemed to envy this young swan and by stretching his neck he managed to eat under the interested eye of his brother.

We both managed to get out together today, first time in 2 weeks that Daniel has left the house, which was great, really good to see it lifted his spirits. Hopefully do it more often. We met with a friend and had a coffee at Hardwick park and fed the birds, then went to Fishburn airfield and sat outside plane watching. Had a mini-shoot while we were there. Have a wonderful evening all. ❤️

Managed to get this shot of the iconic gate when there was almost no one around. It pays to get up early!!!

This is a shot of the south end of Loch Eck taken from a hilltop overlooking Stratheck. From this viewpoint I can see 2 forest tracks that I regularly walk/cycle and also one of my favourite roads to drive :)

After a meal and a drink in the excellent Whistlefield Inn I am often inspired to take a shot or 2 on the way home if the night is nice .... this was taken on one of those nights :)

As there were no cars forthcoming the lights you can see are from my own car when I had to drive away from my brand new camera and leave it untended until I could find a place wide enough to perform a u-turn on the narrow country road!

This past couple of weeks I've been trying to get a Buzzard shot, whilst out on a bit of an exercise walk. Today I managed several, here's one ......

Managed to stop the car without the hawk immediately flying away - - a rare occurrence. Sun was pretty bright so a lot more dark shadows than you would like but otherwise a clear shot even after some cropping - - I'm glad my lens is finally sharp again after another round of micro-adjustments.

Red Tailed Hawk ((I believe)) - Minesing Swamp - Ontario

Managed a quick shot of the male Chaffinch that's been visiting our garden over the last couple of days. It only stays at the far back of the garden though. It’s perched on the shallow water trough. Taken through the window.

Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fave my images.

Finally managed to get some shots of this little beauty in the sunshine.

A rare sighting for the reserve, last recorded sighting was 14 years ago in December 2005.

Fushimi Inari Taisha (伏見稻荷大社)Kyoto - the arches for the temple are build around the temple up to the mountain top. I didn't managed to go up to the mountains peak, but managed to trekked half way of the mountains.

Some charming clouds present mid-sunset, above a corn field and along our shelterbelt.

It is always so delightful to me how late you can manage to stay out for walks or hikes during the summer months

I managed to get myself out the door and around the corner in time to catch this amazing light show in the sky. Pretty lovely indeed. Happy Friday everyone!

My first venture onto the hills this morning to photograph moorland birds, and I came away with this shot of a Jenny Wren. I'd actually gone to see Stonechats and Wheatears as I'd noticed them on a few walks around the area. I was just going to get an idea of perches and take some pictures for future reference. However, I didn't expect this little fellow to jump on the rusty wire right next to me. I quickly swung my camera round and managed to get a quick capture before it dived back into a nook in the drystone wall.

Managed to get out for a shortish walk this morning. Started off in great light, which then got worse and worse. But at least I got out!

I just love Lavender.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :)

Managed to catch this amazing sunrise this morning in County Durham, UK.

Managed to Photograph this nice Cat ...While on my daily exercise walk due to Lockdown ...

I managed to get up a local Ben on Boxing Day. Fortunately just after sunrise there was a break in the clouds. The sidelight was beautiful as the next snow storm was coming in. I finally got a shot of Lochan Balloch I was pleased with.

He performed a feline jump and almost managed to catch it. This mysterious visitor had taken one of the swords from his brother's cabin, and he would have run if he hadn't seen a bright reflection out of the corner of his eye. Infamous thief! So he was the one who had taken all the things that had disappeared in the last few weeks! Based on his clothes, he may have been from the town I went to, a month ago, to buy some potions that our healer needed. I felt guilty: he had followed me. He spun around and I found myself coiled in a vise between his legs. I managed to twist one of her hands and it gave enough for her to escape the deadly embrace, but I tumbled down a slight incline. I jumped up… But it was too late. Taking advantage of the fact that he was free, he ran away.

It was easy for me to follow him, because we are track experts and I know my land like the back of his hand, but he was out on the plains before he caught him again. When I came out of the woods he was riding away on a horse that he must have tied up waiting for him. What a frustrating! I only had to notify my queen and take action...

Managed to stop a take a patch of daisies that has started to cover the bank of the roadside on the way to my dads a couple of weeks back.

I did manage to work on a peony picture from this month! Yeah !

Enjoy your Flower Power Friday!

Wingardium Leviosa. It was the first spell she learned and, as it turns out, is one of her best spells. At first she could barely lift anything, or everything would backfire. Now? Now she could pull a person up by their clothing or move an object from across the room. Still, this didn’t mean she didn’t have to practice.

“Wingardium Leviosa,” she said quietly to herself and smiled as her books and papers lifted up around her.

Credits . . .

Managed an early dart off nights ( first job and knock for years, remember those? ) to meet up with some local togs for another well organised K&F Concept workshop/bit of a jolly. They are always good fun with various pieces of K&F Concept gear available to try out. I’ve got my eye on the natural night filter which really is top notch.

Conditions were fairly cloudy with the odd gap in the cloud as it began to get light and we made our way out to the S.S Denham, roughly a mile off the coast of New Brighton/Wallasey beach.

The S.S Denham is only visible at very low tides and is an interesting subject to shoot. We got lucky with the gaps in the cloud and were treated to a brief but intense sunrise looking back towards New Brighton, The Mersey and the giraffes of the Seftongetti.

As the sun got higher we moved around to the bow to capture some minimal images.

Managed a trip to the Yorkshire Dales for these Turtle Doves before I disappear for a few days. They kept there distance, so unfortunately they are large crops.

Many thanks as always for your comments and faves.

This image of a handsome Mandarin Duck was captured in an urban park somewhere in London. Although this particular duck was free-living, his relative fearlessness probably meant he interacted regularly with humans.

This species of duck is native to Eastern Asia (China, Japan and Russia), where they are now rare, although a large and thriving introduced population can be found in the British Isles and Western Europe, with additional smaller introductions in North America.

The Mandarin Duck is a very rare winter visitor to Hong Kong. Over the last five years of constant searching, I’ve only ever managed to see a single wild pair in Hong Kong.

Thank you for your interest, views, faves, comments and awards ! This image was captured in London, UK 英國倫敦. (Better viewed on a larger screen.)

Managed to snatch a quick candid of this guy when his eyes were closed...

I managed to get amongst the wild flowers/beautiful weeds in a part of the garden yesterday and took some photos. They're mainly these yellow dandelion-like flowers collectively known as "false dandelions" and they have names such as Catsear, Meadow Hawkweed and Bristly Hawkbit. I think these particular ones are Catsear. There are so many of them and they give a beautiful display.

We managed to see a bit of sunshine on our last Norfolk trip and did a short walk from Morston Quay to Blakeney Quay.

Actually managed to time a visit to South Wales when storm Ophelia came ashore.

There are always very dramatic seas at this location in Porthcawl and although I'v seen many images from here, I had never been able to time a visit to capture the crashing waves at their high tide peak.

The downside to this is that I'm still trying to get the salt, from all the spray, out of my kit!

managed one a little more in the open today first time that i have seen it since 6 days ago

The White-browed Shrike-babbler (Pteruthius flaviscapis) is a small bird found in the Himalayas and parts of Southeast Asia - its a beautiful bird and a target of mine for a long time - never managed to see it before till my trip few weeks ago.

Around 12-13 cm in length with a distinctive plumage and a bold white eyebrow stripe, dark crown and ear coverts, and a bright yellow or yellowish-green wing patch, the male is easy bird to identify since there are few birds like this. These birds are primarily found in montane forests, often in dense undergrowth. I sighted several in a pine forest foraging in the dark canopy and waited more than 90 mins for them to come to a spot where I can take some pictures - luckily they did and I am delighted!

These birds are active foragers, gleaning insects and other invertebrates from foliage and branches. The calls are typically high-pitched and thin, often described as a series of whistles or trills.

Shrike-babbler's are a different species altogether - neither shrikes nor babblers. Their name comes from their shrike-like bill and babbler-like behavior.

Thanks in advance for your views and feedback. Much appreciated.

I managed a quick visit at a park on Wednesday morning. It was cloudy but the temperatures were pleasant and I enjoyed every minute. I mainly went there to find out whether the dahlias had made any progress in the last two weeks but then I spent more time with the farm animals. Especially my friends the Kunekune pigs are always a joy to hang around with. This is the younger one who only a few weeks ago was just a little piglet. And yes, the grass definitely shows the effects of the heat and lack of rain but some parts of the meadow are watered and therefore still offer green grass for the animals.

On this trek I managed to break both my 14-24mm and my D700 camera so that I was stuck with only using f2.8. However I thought I would use this shallow depth-of-field to my advantage for this shot :)
