This months wonderful FOTF theme of 'Makes Me Smile', chosen by Dave,
I am someone who always takes time out to smell the roses and appreciate the simple and little things in life, and now so more than ever.
So many things make me smile, the sunshine, the clouds in the sky, the sea, my little garden, my friends, good coffee, my camera . . . but someone that makes me smile each and everyday without fail, is my wonderful husband Ray, with his constant thoughtfulness and kindness.
Each and every morning he delivers me a hot coffee from my favourite local cafe, and he often surprises me with lovely bunches on flowers because he knows they make me smile and I love to fill the house with them (and photograph them too).
The coffee also makes me smile because my gorgeous pooch loves to lick the frothy coffee lid when I am finished (and cup I might add), it makes her so happy, she waits for it and seeing her happy, makes me smile too.
There are so many things, even in times like this to be thankful for and to make you smile. A Melbourne cafe has embodied all that I think too, in a wonderful sign on their door that reads:
Not everything is cancelled:
Sun is not cancelled
Spring is not cancelled
Love is not cancelled
Reading is not cancelled
Music is not cancelled
Kindness is not cancelled
Coffee is not cancelled
Conversations are not cancelled
Relationships are not cancelled
Devotion is not cancelled
Hope is not cancelled.
I am so grateful for all of these things and I am so blessed to have the love and the happiness my 'Ray' of sunshine and my pooch bring to me, each and every day.
Keep smiling everyone and have a wonderful day. The sun is shining and it's glorious out!
Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.

Life is what you make it!
These are some coneflowers my husband planted in our garden this year. I just love coneflowers! Hope you enjoy!

Peaceful 3 candles standing together like brothers, they are almost burn to the end, but they still work hard to make the beautiful flame, and make every moment counts.
Despite their squat, comical appearance, Atlantic puffins are accomplished fliers. One particular impressive ability they have is to land backwards. When the wind is at their back the birds will hover and then briefly fly backwards onto the cliff.
In this photo you can see one puffin executing this maneuver forcing another puffin out of the way.
I took this photo on Grimsey Island which has one of the largest puffin colonies in Iceland.
My pal for the day Sebastian, (he hailed from Virginia USA) is seen leading the way as the two of us made our way up an unnamed summit within these hills known as the Candy Cane Mountains. As can be seen it was particularly arid and also most colourful.
Our guide had given us an hour and a half to explore and we made full use of that time only returning to the minibus in the nick of time. His only stipulations were, be back on time, stay safe and take water.

Does anyone else find the flickr compression seems to heavily desaturate their photos when they upload them?
miss a picked this all by herself. she was outside on tuesday and picked one, but the little things flew away as she ran in the house to show me and then said, "don't worry, i have another wish in my room." she ran upstairs and grabbed this one - i didn't even know she was saving her wishes.
Photographing an ostrich pacing inside it's fence was slight compensation for failure to get a proper shot of a sandhill crane. The rain was heavy so I shot through an open car window. Sometimes you have to make do with the limited photographic opportunities fate provides....

It's difficult to resist the urge to take a picture of a Dandelion with a maco lens. They reveal much about the lenses characteristics.

I can’t adequately describe the thrill of seeing not one, but two, koalas just near home this week. It doesn’t get much better than that 😍 And it was just delightful to see so many people stopping their cars to look, show their kids and take photos. (The koalas were safely inside the fence line of our golf course which has unfortunately been sold, but close enough to to the road to be easily seen).
It’s a desperately sad fact that koalas in Queensland, where I live, are now listed as an endangered species. Their numbers continue to decline as a result of habitat loss due to land clearing for development and farming, climate events like bushfires and drought, and disease.
Spring is mating season for koalas and I was lucky to spot two of them in the same tree in our local area where it’s estimated there are around 40 living in a conservation zone. But even this area is now under threat of housing redevelopment which would mean the further destruction of precious habitat for the koalas, kangaroos and other wildlife. The developers and local authorities will have a fight on their hands. I am getting ready for battle.

I would never call myself a car nut or car enthusiast, to be honest. A friend and I saw an advert for a car show some time back and we decided it was a good way to spend a warm Sunday afternoon. Our very first time at a vintage car show and it didn't disappoint.
So I have decided to start doing more things outside of my regular comfort zone. Never in a million years did I think about cars as a subject but trying something new is always Let's see how that goes. My blog post explains in a bit more detail and I've included the link to it in this caption.
I am so proud of this one, guys. Because this isn't the original image. This is actually a composite because I removed the background which was full of cars and people and changed the boring sky to this gorgeous blue. It's not perfect But I'm happy for the practice. Sometimes, you have to make your own reality....know what I mean? It's more about the craft and the feeling sometimes. ;)
To all of you, enjoy the weekend and have an awesome week ahead, wherever you are!
