De stenen sculpturen in Sno, een klein dorpje in de Kazbegi-regio van Georgië, maken deel uit van een bijzonder kunstproject in de Kaukasus. De sculpturen bestaan uit indrukwekkende stenen kunstwerken van gigantische gezichten, die vaak een melancholische of mysterieuze uitstraling hebben. Ze zijn gecreëerd door de lokale kunstenaar Merab Piranishvili, die bekendstaat om zijn unieke vaardigheid om gezichten en emoties tot leven te brengen in natuursteen. Make The Snow Stop....
since Just before New years i have been literally knocked off my feet by a rather nasty flu. so i haven't been able to get out and take any shots.
Over a week ago now we had a fairly heavy snowfall that continued well into early morning turning the dull grey of winter into a white clean wintry wonderland.
winters intersection. better know where you are going on a frosty cold morning in December or you might not know what street it is without wiping the snow off the street sign.

We went back and found the fledglings again. This chick was flapping its wings and taking short flights from branch to branch.

Practice Makes Perfect - A couple weeks ago, I observed a cooperative immature Red-tailed Hawk on a family hike. I didn't get the shots I wanted that day, but figured I'd try again.
My buddy and I were treated to almost an hour of great passes by this hawk during a windy morning as it practiced hunting and chased a group of Turkey Vultures around. Was a great opportunity to practice bird in flight (BIF) techniques!

The patch of light pollution comes from Portree to the north, not helped by a wee bit of low cloud. Will need to come back on the next clear night (sadly rare here) and try to point south when Orion makes its appearance.
Whenever I see light pollution on the horizon, I can't help but remember the 1953 film Invaders from Mars, when young David sees a glowing spaceship from his bedroom window, landing behind a hill at night not far from his house.

The windmill is quite symbolic; considered to be a universal symbol of life, resilience,self-sufficiency,and perseverance in a harsh environment. It is important to recognize that no matter what happens in life you can overcome any problem. Life is composed of ups and downs. Learning to get through the downs is key to being successful. Without obstacles,difficulty,struggles,and challenges, life wouldn't make much sense. You become stronger, more compassionate, and more grateful when you strongly believe in your capacity to persevere and rebuild again.
