Magic Island was a restaurant in Houston, Texas that featured a magic show and dinner at a high price. It closed after Hurricane Katrina and has never reopened since. Locked up pretty well, it has suffered ok against time, looters, and the elements. It has some holes in the roof, there has been a fire, and it has no electricity. With the permission of the people in charge of the property I was allowed to go through and photograph it before it is lost for all time. Most of these photos are either close up with a flash or I painted with my flashlight while the camera was on a tripod. There are disco balls, sarcophagi, a theater and a steam punk elevator. Magic Wallets are part of an old Victorian magic trick, and a beautiful way of presenting a money gift or gift coupon: Present the open wallet, place the gift coupon between the parallel strips, close the wallet and open it again (after turning it around while distracting the recipient) and magically the coupon or bank note has moved to the other side where the ribbons are crossed.
I guess I do not have to say that the money is not included in the Etsy-listing?
While going over my old photos, I found this old picture, circa 2006 or so of what the Temecula Promenade's kids play zone looked like! It had a strange jungle theme carpet, soft play statues like the caterpillar shown here, a couple quarter rides, a play house that looks like someone just went to Kmart across the street and bought at the last minute and shown here a huge tree with an animatronic bear that would come out every half an hour and read a fairy tale of sorts... yeah, all this has since been removed and replaced with an open atrium with the kid's play zone being moved to the Macy's Women's court and given a modern look to it.

Labor Day weekend we attended the Texas Association of Magician's convention at the Hilton Hotel in Houston. Our convention was on the 4th floor and it just so happened that the Miss Texas and Miss Texas Teen pagents were being held on the 2nd floor. During the course of the evening we were strolling through the lobby and these lovely young ladies asked my husband to see some magic....he was more than happy to oblige:) Oh yes and the somewhat strange attire he is wearing is one of his Steampunk costumes.

In the Magic Eye project, the coordinated movement of a quadruped robot is symbiotically combined with the measurement of millimeter-wave reflections in order to detect obstacles and hidden objects. By means of mathematical transformations and fusion of the data, an image of the environment with significantly higher resolution is created as a result of the virtual aperture created by the movement, from which the name SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) is derived. In connection with highly integrated radar sensors, it is to be expected that SAR as a symbiosis of measurement and movement will play an important role in radar-based path planning and map generation for highly automated driving in the future.
