I found this shot in archives. I miss them during the winter. They hibernate till the weather warms up. They are really pets, these two eat from my hand and I can pet them!
Continuing my Sunflower theme. I am uploading (what I call) some of my more natural images. The more 'messed around' with ones will follow in due course :o)
Exquisite and Plentiful... The dragonflies of Malaysia include some of the most exquisite forms found anywhere in the world.
It is because of the hot and wet equatorial or tropical climate of the country, with streams, rivers and forests galore, that are conducive to the existence of these amazing tiny super-helicopters of the world.

This week’s Macro Mondays Theme dice or dices, from simple to mystery, from hand held to tripod, from small aperture to large aperture, different number of dices, from reflection from the kitchen light , to a torch and some reflections, from second light to reflected disco mirror and some more variations, a total of maybe 40 photos, 2 sets with minor modifications, reduced to 4 at flicker, and finally tomorrow on Monday, only one to Macro Mondays
Front row green blue and red, rear row red blue and green, some slight change in color to change of light and metering.

Speaking of frost--we don't have any! Yay! Chicago is in the middle of a short-but-sweet Indian Summer, with temps this weekend above 70°F...in November! And it is supposed to last through Monday!

Another Mystery: I honestly didn't mean for this week of flowers to turn into a guessing game, but I'm truly clueless when it comes to horticulture--which is why I need the help of my friends. Again.
Update: Thanks to the astounding knowledge of my talented pal Bettina, we have an answer: it's Red Valerian (Centranthus rubur). Now we're all just a little bit smarter. Thx, B. :)

Blue milkweed beetle (Chrysochus cobaltinus), a beautiful beetle that commonly feeds on milkweeds (Asclepias). It belongs to the large family Chrysomelidae.
