Made with Hero Machine. This is a concept costume for my answer to the Green Lantern Corps. The Gauntlet are five armed forces that enforce good and justice throughout the universe. Right now, I don't have a symbol for them.

Even though there are five branches, all of them are called "Gauntlet". Once I'm done with my Oz game, I'm going to turn this into a fully realized RPG, completely licensed under Creative Commons, so people don't have to come up with their own space force if they're stuck for one.

Pictured here is Ruby Gauntlet. The Rubies are the strong arm, focusing on physical enforcement. The guy in the costume doesn't have a name yet, but his chosen weapon form is the saber, created from his Gauntlet.

Of course, all this is subject to change, but it's my start.

Made by the Osborn Engineering Company, Atlanta Works, Portsmouth.

Frederick Osborne built his first machines with Minerva and MMC engines.

In 1920 his son John resumed production and one of his employees Fred Wood invented, amongst other things, Duplex Steering on the OEC machines.

This is the only known OEC with Duplex Steering and four cylinder Overhead Camshaft 600cc Matchless Silver Hawk Engine.

A quick disclaimer: this was NOT posted. I do not cross posted properties - never have. So this was sitting as is, with no visible sign(s).

Through the front door. The front room looked incredibly untouched. I was there in fall - the harvest welcome sign seemed appropriate. Coats, hoodies, a dog leash. All just left behind. A tiny boot left behind. A washing machine. This entrance was definitely a mud room and laundry room area - very handy.

2009 MIA - Let's Pizza, is the Italian innovation in automated vending machines. This is the first machine which prepares pizza from scratch, starting from flour. After melting flour and water it squeezes the pasta and covers it with salami, mozzarella and other ingredients. Finally the pizza moves to the oven where it is cooked in 2 minutes and 30 seconds to be ready to eat.

The robot allows to enjoy fresh pizza 24 h on 24.

After recently purchasing a new pair of Converse I decided to stick my previous Chuck's through the washing machine this morning to breathe some life back into them...

We hosted a special event about ‘Pataphysics, the “science of imaginary solutions” -- and its founder, french poet Alfred Jarry, as part of our educational programs this month at the Mill Valley Library. This one-hour lecture and group discussion was held on October 15 in the Creekside Room, and engaged dozens of local community members in a fascinating conversation about the art movement that inspired surrealism and dadaism. Our presenters were Marshall Smith and Priscilla Wheeler, with creative contributions by Mark Petrakis, Freddy Hahne, as well as Fabrice and Phyllis Florin.

This program complements the first public exhibit of the ‘Pataphysical Slot Machine, our poetic oracle, which is on display this month at the Mill Valley Library. Come see the slot machine this month! The exhibit is open from 1 to 5pm every Saturday and Sunday in October, in the downstairs conference room of the Mill Valley Library. Pataphysical Studio members will be on hand to demo the Slot Machine and share what we have learned while building this interactive art project.

1959 Jaguar XK150 FHC

Chassis No. S835771BW

Engine No. V5366-8

Transmission: Automatic

Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernized. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The alloy bonnet was also widened, and opened down to the wings.

In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by an elegantly leather trimmed dash. Thinner doors gave the interior needed space as well.

Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in. Disc-Brakes appeared for the first time. Suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. Steering was by rack and pinion; power steering was not offered. Production ended in October of 1960.

S837312: Offered here is an elegant fixed head coupe, meticulously restored from top to bottom, with no detail overlooked.

This iconic British roadster is finished in a beautiful metallic blue over dark blue upholstery, complimented by chrome wire wheels, and driving lamps; displaying excellent fit and finish throughout. The car also features correct “J” headlamps and dual exhaust.

The cabin of the 150 is quite striking. Supple hides and well polished wood adorn the cockpit as well as plenty of brightwork. An aftermarket stereo system has been installed under the dash.

The well sorted 3.4L motor is quite stout, exhibiting strong acceleration and steady idling as the automatic transmission shifts through all gears with ease. As a reliable machine, this Jaguar certainly draws attention with its striking looks, all while offering a pleasant care-free driving experience.

Meticulous Full Restoration!

Well sorted throughout!

Excellent fit and finish!

Another horizon machine, this time the Deathbringer.

This was a pretty complex build, mainly due to its ability to spread apart the four top sections to go into overheat mode. The legs are fully articulated, and the foot-pistons can go up and down, but as a consequence they aren’t especially stable.

Scale-wise, this ended up a little smaller than minifig scale, but no worse than the official Tallneck set

Note the locking lever is in its open position, pulled towards the front of the machine. This allows the reflector to disengage and slide to the left, as shown, to allow removal of the rotors.

HOSTETLER’S HUDSON COLLECTION

November 2016

Engine: 8-cylinder

Horsepower: 128hp

Weight: 3,195 lbs

Wheelbase: 121”

Cost: $2,050

The Hudson Brougham Convertible was built late in the production year to stimulate sales. Construction started by removing the top from a coupe and then adding the canvas top. Approximately 140 were built.

The engine block is chrome alloy and is so hard that it is very difficult to machine. This car also includes an overdrive transmission.

Ah…. Memories….. This is one of so many military kits I used to make as a kid and after grown up – God knows how many of the same kits I bought over the years, played with, be serious about model building, painting, building dioramas and so on in the 70’s and 80’s. When I was young I just slapped them together with glue and played with them straight away in the battlefield but as I grew older I got serious about them and the fun changed from playing battle to building and painting and reading about the history. Mountains of kits have passed in my life and this is one of the reminder kits of my past history. I will of course build it later and I will be able to touch and feel the days gone by just like a time machine!

This one’s not the original issue as Tamiya added photo etched parts then made the box bigger and more expensive. I will though make it as the original I built back in the early 80’s. That would be fun.

Not cropped.

This is a sampler of stitch patterns done with the original cams that came with my newly acquired Necchi Supernova Automatica Ultra sewing machine. This is an Italian made beauty from 1959, that after cleaning and lubricating is producing a wonderful stitch, and has nearly an endless possibilities of pattern stitches available with the stackable cams.

I made this in photoshop today, inspired by the ever so famous song "Shake it Out" sung by Florence and The Machine. This song holds so much substance, and symbolism, definitely one of my favorites.

Forget your multi programme high speed spin cycle washing machine – this is laundry day in Rajasthan. The twin buffalo amble round and round, turning a gear wheel which pulls up water buckets from a deep well to discharge into the water channel. We peered into the well and saw the biggest frog ever – it was bigger than a dinner plate!

During the month of September on a holiday to Thornton Cleveleys, it became apparent that, whilst most of Blackpool Transport's fleet is quite modern (not very, but quite), there are still quite a few golden oldies knocking around. Golden oldies such as this 1989 Leyland Olympian with East Lancashire "Alexander R type lookalike" bodywork, which has here just taken me and our party into Fleetwood on route 14.

What a fantastic machine this still is, in excellent condition at 22 years old, with few or no rattles, very comfortable (more so than many modern buses), and with an acceptably quiet engine whine even on the back seat downstairs. Looking good too, even in Blackpool Transport's ghastly new generic livery that all their buses are destined for!

I had the pleasure and luck of boarding this beast TWICE during our holiday, on two separate routes on two separate days! The other time was on route 9 in Cleveleys on Friday 23rd, our last day.

Blackpool Transport 369, registration F369 AFR, is seen here on route 14 at Fleetwood on Wednesday, the 21st September 2011.

Part of the fun of Sci Foo is getting a tour of the ginormous Google complex, which employs 12,000 people.

All food is free here except for junk food, which is sold (expensively) from vending machines.

This lovely, animated rotating earth shows Google searches in real time. The color of a spike refects the language; its height shows the number of queries from that location.

The tragic remains of the once great abbey of Bury St Edmunds. Originally one of the largest and most powerful monastic complexes in England, the abbey precinct was constructed around the vast church which was built over the tomb of the martyred King and Saint Edmund and was a major centre of pilgrimage.

The great Norman church was of colossal proportions, cruciform and larger than many cathedrals (certainly the one which now stands before its site, which would have easily fitted into the abbey's nave with room to spare). Its facade was immensely broad and was formerly crowned by a soaring tower and spire, its overall form perhaps somewhere between the frontages of Ely and Lincoln cathedrals.

All its glory ended with the Dissolution of the Monasteries, it came close to a reprieve when Henry VIII considered forming new dioceses out of certain great monasteries in which case it would have become the cathedral (instead of the much smaller St James's church in front of it). Alas it was not to be and the site was quickly plundered and used as a quarry.

Today the enormous church has been so systematically plundered that only the misshapen rubble cores of the crossing pillars and parts of the transept and west front remain, all robbed of their original facing stone.

The west front is the most substantial fragment, its arches filled in by later houses, thus what appears to be a jumbled row of stone buildings immediately behind the present cathedral is actually the lowest stage of the church's main facade, though it takes considerable imagination to make sense of it all. The most recognisable features are the three great arches of the central portals (with later houses embedded in them) and the base of an octagonal turret at the south end (formerly balanced by a similar feature to the north, now vanished).

This place always saddens me with a huge sense of loss, one of England's greatest buildings stood here but has all but vanished, the great open space left like a gaping wound from one of history's more vicious blows. If I had access to a time machine, this would be one of my first stops (on a very lengthy itinerary!).

I bought one of those Lytro cameras knowing that there were terrible photo-making devices, but I was so intrigued by the whole concept that I could hardly resist. True to the reviews, it is a terrible camera, even when compared to my smart phone. Still, once in a while, I can manage something half way decent. Adding digital grain makes the resulting image more tolerable.

Fortunately I didn't pay anything near the full price for the machine.

This image demonstrates the selectable focus method of using the capture.

a mackerel tin thumb piano I made for my good friend peter emmett for his 60th birthday...

wandering the streets, as I do, I've occasionally been finding strips of spring steel, perfect for making these small instruments - I think they fall off the council street-sweeper machines...

this instrument is the first I've made using these strips - I went out to 'test' the streets, to see if they'd deliver me what I needed to make this gift - and found two strips, one after another, about two blocks away...

the soundbox is a mackerel tin, the soundboard cut from a cigar box lid I got from a local tobacconist and the fittings I made from brass bought at a hobby store...

"Prototype for a New Bio-Machine" by Ivan Henriques (BR) aims to empower plants by enabling them to use similar technologies as humans use. It is also explores new ways of communication and co-relation between humans, living organism and a machine. Much like humans, animals and machines, the plants have an electrical signal traveling inside them, but they do not have nerves like humans and animals; nor wires and cables like machines. This electrical signal travels inside the cells of the plant. You just have to touch the plant leaves to enable the machine to move.

Words cannot describe what a small team of talented engineers in New Zealand have acheived in creating this machine. The Britten is novel, an original design setting new trends in chassis and suspension technoogy. Sadly, John Britten, the team leader and chief designer, passed away in late 1995. He built only ten machines: this one is number seven. Britten won the world British, European, and American Racing Series (BEARS) in 1995, and had many successes on the racetrack.

A very well balanced purposeful-looking 54cms road racing machine..

This is the only D. Franzil bike I have ever heard of. I found it exactly as it is shown, except for the Ideal alloy-framed saddle that I removed, in a charity warehouse a couple of hours south of Paris.

The wheels are of a slightly later era - the originals would have been tubulars and replaced for convenience.

With my London Buses formal cap, my PCV badge with the 'N' licensing code and my trusty Gibson A14 ticket machine this could almost be a photograph taken in December 1991 as opposed to December 2021 as back in 1991 the Gibson A14 ticket machines were still very much in service on London Buses' Routemaster-operated routes, with the Gibsons being phased out and replaced by the then new electronic Wayfarer 'Clipper' machines in the summer of 1993. The last of London Buses' bus garages to use Gibson machines was Westbourne Park on routes 7 and 23.

Except for the newer soft drink machines, this photo could have been from the past.

At the 2014 Henham Steam Rally, Suffolk

Trevithick built a full-size steam road locomotive in 1801 on a site near the present day Fore Street at Camborne. Trevithick named his carriage 'Puffing Devil' and on Christmas Eve that year, he demonstrated it by successfully carrying six passengers up Fore Street and then continuing on up Camborne Hill, from Camborne Cross, to the nearby village of Beacon. His cousin and associate, Andrew Vivian, steered the machine. This is widely recognised as the first demonstration of transportation powered by steam. It inspired the popular Cornish folk song "Camborne Hill".

During further tests, Trevithick's locomotive broke down three days later after passing over a gully in the road. The vehicle was left under some shelter with the fire still burning whilst the operators retired to a nearby public house for a meal of roast goose and drinks. Meanwhile the water boiled off, the engine overheated and the machine burned, destroying it. Trevithick did not consider this a serious setback, but rather operator error!

Faces of Love – Art Craft Centre, Murmansk, Russia

“The Murmansk Art Craft Centre presents a unique collection of quilts inspired by the paintings of the renowned Russian artist Anatoli Aleksandrovich Sergjenko.

In 2007 a group of quilters consisting of Irina Sopina (art director), Anatoli Sergjenko (project consultant), Nadeschda Markina and Tatjana Ischkaraeva set out to create a collection of 17 quilts, to be shown at Russian and major international quilt exhibitions. They took as their inspiration characters from a picture by Anatoli Sergjenko. Although they did not set out to make an exact resemblance, many of the quilts became almost exact replicas of the artists’ pictures – even though they were created in an entirely different medium. It was as if the artist always intended that his pictures should be re-created using textiles. The breath-taking pictures – beautiful depictions of love and eroticism – leave a great impression on the spectator, an impression which inspired the “Faces of Love” project.

The 17 quilts, completed in only nine months, demonstrated the artists’ great talent and innovative approaches to quilt art. Moreover, many of the manually demanding pieces were crafted by complete beginners who had limited quilting experience.

At the 6th Russian Festival for decorative art, “Quilt-Mosaics Russia” in Moscow in 2007, the group was honoured by the Association of Quilting in Russia and received a special prize from the main sponsor, BERNINA International AG of Switzerland.

In 2008, Wolfgang Eibisch of BERNINA International AG, asked Tatjana Ischkareva’s club to reproduce six of the quilts from “Faces of Love” using new techniques and materials.

In 2009 the group continued their work on the Northern-Sea topic and created six more quilts based on the paintings of A. Sergjenko. All 12 quilts were crafted on Bernina Aurora 440 sewing machines.

This became a new exhibition, which will be on display at The Festival of Quilts 2010.”

Oh my...these great graphics on this vintage pinball machine were definitely created waaaaaaaaaay before everyone got all hypersensitive. Certainly over-th-top sexy but, what a better way to get a teen-age kid to plunk all his or her quarter into the machine??? This pickleball museum is right across from the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign and it is one of the very few things that are FREE. Obviously the machine take quarters but no entry fee.

Also, for many years I have been plague wondering why my X100V just could not get a shot correct. So, duh, I finally reset the camera to ground zero and now I can get back to using this camera.
