This was lunch the other week. It was our first batch of fresh garden salsa this summer. Tomatoes, poblano, and hot peppers are in the salsa with garlic and lime juice. The CoJack cheese is from the local cheese factory, the best CoJack there is. The bread was homemade, the hubby has been making great use of the bread machine this summer. This one is a french/white recipe with chives, garlic, and garlic chives in it. Stick it under the broiler in the oven. Yummy!

Sand Making & Washing Production Line:

Henan Liming Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. manufactures various equipments for whole set of sand-making production line, and provides superior technical support for customers. The whole sand-making production line consists of vibrating feeder, jaw crusher, PCL vertical shaft impact crusher (sand-making machine), vibrating screen, sand-washing machine, belt conveyor, electric control system, etc. We design different production lines ranging 50 t/h to 500 t/h. We have been researching the sand-making machine for years, and we have made it part of the production line. The whole set of sand-making production line designed by our company is suitable to crush the hard limestone, granite, basalt, gravel, slag, etc and artificially sand making for hydroelectric power, building material, high way, city construction, etc. Different models of equipments are combined to meet different customers’ different demands according to different craft requirements.

Process of the Production Line:

The raw material is transferred to jaw crusher for primary crushing by vibrating feeder, then the crushed materials are transferred to sand-making machine through belt conveyor for secondary crushing. The materials crushed will be transferred to the vibrating screen. The materials with suitable size will be transferred to sand washing machine, after being washed, then clean final products will be discharged. The others with unsuitable size will be screened from vibrating screen, then will be transferred to the sand-making machine, this forms a closed circuit manifold cycles.

Sizes of final products will be according to our customers’ requirements. If it is the dry process, the classifier and deduster will be attached according to you requirement.

What figure of speech does this illustrate?

That's right for all of you who answered that it's a simile.

That is what I've been this past week. School starts with students today (9/6). Last week I was busy preparing lessons, setting up the new computers for my yearbook class, meeting with teachers and staff, and pulling paper out of a continually jamming copy machine.

This image above was taken on the last outing of summer where my sisters and I took a trip up to Roman Nose Lake high atop one of the most recognizable peaks in the Selkirk Mountain Range. It was a wonderful way to close the summer. What a beautiful alpine lake!

The weekend was not without its downers though. On Sunday my equine buddy, Dusty, was run through a wire fence requiring stitches. So in addition to the excitement of school starting, there's the worries about caring for an injured friend, but he's taking it really well and a great patient.

Sorry I've been so sketchy with my visits to flickr. Everything should level out by the end of the week. Have a wonderful week everyone.

Markus Poschner (DE) and the Bruckner Orchester during Mahler-Unfinished.

In cooperation with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz

Since 2003, the collaboration with the Bruckner Orchestra has been an integral and unique part of the Ars Electronica Festival. It is a collaboration that makes it possible not only to perform interesting works each year, but also to develop unique artistic projects that bring together a wide variety of orchestral music, electronic music, robots, dancers and digital images. An essential aspect of the concert nights in the Gleishalle was and is the unique space itself, with its significant acoustics and “wild” backdrop. But the large-scale projections and live visualizations have also become a special characteristic, along with the artistic staging with industrial robots and machines. This year, an AI system will also be involved for the first time.

Our Maker Art class created a Time Machine this year, inviting you to travel through time from the age of dinosaurs to the 50th century.

Our 4th and 5th graders at the Lycée Français designed their own scenes from the past, present or future, and brought them to life with motion, lights and sounds. They also worked in teams to build interactive features like illuminated keypads, spinners and doors, using the popular Arduino platform.

In our after-school classes, we combine art, technology and storytelling to help children create their own magical worlds. They learn to design their ideas, build them with a variety of tools, animate them with electronics and tell their stories. This unique multimedia course helps them develop their creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills -- and builds their confidence that they can help change the world.

This year, we had a really good group of 9 students, ages 8 to 11 -- many of whom had taken our Maker Art classes before. They were very creative and engaged, and did a great job presenting their work at the Lycée Français -- and at Marinovators at the College of Marin on April 22.

This Maker Art class was taught by Fabrice Florin and Edward Janne at the Lycée Français in Sausalito in winter 2017. We met every week for 12 workshops of 90 minutes each, Thursdays at 3:30pm, from January 5 to March 30, 2017. Our teachers are part of the Tam Makers learning community and we prepared materials for this project in our state-of-the-art makerspace at the nearby Tam High School.

We made some cool 'pataphysical talismans and time machines this week in Geo Monly’s amazing woodshop at Tam High School in Mill Valley.

Howard Rheingold (a.k.a. Dr. Rindbrain) and Jean Bolte (a.k.a. Dr. Figurine) have been building a Time Machine model, which is coming along very well. It is a modular structure with five walls, which can house a wide range of interactive art works. It could grow into a 'collection of time machines’, featuring different artist's views of events that impact us all.

Fabrice Florin (a.k.a. Dr. Fabio) made hundreds of 'pataphysical talismans, using Tam High's laser printer, an Illustrator file created by Freddy Hahne (a.k.. Dr. Really). It only took a couple hours to print over 280 talismans, which are based on the symbol of unity, featured in stupas all over Nepal.

Our creative process is documented in this photo album: bit.ly/pata-photos

An ex-Win Percy machine, this Datsun sounded gorgeous screaming around DOnington during qualifying - such a shame the JD Classics challenge had a very poorly-subscribed (and depleted) entry list.

I've gotten addicted to designing and printing things on Shapways.com using their rapid prototyping machines. This is my latest design for a small box that 'clicks' into place with a flexible plastic mechanism. My first test-print of a similar box had tolerances much too loose and it didn't click.

The Executioners Garden

***

The *Illumina* has been started officially this evening.

Within the next days, I will try to post shots of all stations and all illuminated objects as far as they are suitable for a decent shot.

There is lots of town-history behind the idea and realization of this project and they have even installed loudspeakers at every illuminated object to tell this underlying history in a radio-play-style. I have not listened to every story yet - I will do that within the next days.

For the moment: This is a shot of the garden next to the house where the town's executioner lived in the Middle Ages. It is the oldest house in town they say, although our house has an earlier year written over its archway. Anyway.. together with the fog machine, this lighting has something creepy to it, indeed.

Made with Hero Machine. This is a concept costume for my answer to the Green Lantern Corps. The Gauntlet are five armed forces that enforce good and justice throughout the universe. Right now, I don't have a symbol for them.

Even though there are five branches, all of them are called "Gauntlet". Once I'm done with my Oz game, I'm going to turn this into a fully realized RPG, completely licensed under Creative Commons, so people don't have to come up with their own space force if they're stuck for one.

Pictured here is Ruby Gauntlet. The Rubies are the strong arm, focusing on physical enforcement. The guy in the costume doesn't have a name yet, but his chosen weapon form is the saber, created from his Gauntlet.

Of course, all this is subject to change, but it's my start.

Made by the Osborn Engineering Company, Atlanta Works, Portsmouth.

Frederick Osborne built his first machines with Minerva and MMC engines.

In 1920 his son John resumed production and one of his employees Fred Wood invented, amongst other things, Duplex Steering on the OEC machines.

This is the only known OEC with Duplex Steering and four cylinder Overhead Camshaft 600cc Matchless Silver Hawk Engine.

2009 MIA - Let's Pizza, is the Italian innovation in automated vending machines. This is the first machine which prepares pizza from scratch, starting from flour. After melting flour and water it squeezes the pasta and covers it with salami, mozzarella and other ingredients. Finally the pizza moves to the oven where it is cooked in 2 minutes and 30 seconds to be ready to eat.

The robot allows to enjoy fresh pizza 24 h on 24.

Earth Designs Garden Design and Build were asked to created a landscape and propose garden design in Hawkwell, London*. Here are the details of the project

The clients , Jon and Karen, have lived at the property for over 10 years. Whilst they have done some minor landscaping with the addition of decking in the last few years, they feel that the space has more potential. They called Earth Designs as they felt no-one locally to them could deliver the sort of look they are after. They require the space to be multi functional with an adult area and somewhere for their son to have some fun. Whilst they don’t want the garden to be ‘kiddie-centric’ they do want Jazz, their son, to be able to engage with the garden. To this end they would like a ‘grow-your-own’ area. They currently have a out building in the garden which they use infrequently as a bar area. This also houses a running machine. Whilst they are keen to retain the option of having an indoor bar, the size of structure does not justify the amount of garden wasted, so we need to find an alternative solution. They prefer calm colours and plan to spend a lot of time in the garden.

This design divides this small sub-urban garden into several distinct functional areas. Attractive, amber-coloured Yellow Balau hardwood decking will be laid directly adjoining the house to create a stylish and durable entrance to the space. Two eye-catching paths lead from either side of the decking up the garden to a small artificial lawn in the right hand corner. The paths will be constructed from 35cm squares of toughened recycled glass panels set into a sea of coloured glass mulch.

The main seating/dining area will be in the bottom left of the garden. An L-shaped rendered block raised bed constructed along the left and rear boundaries will enclose a rectangular decked patio, which will house a freestanding decked table and matching cube stools . Ample seating will be provided by an L-shaped decking bench fixed to the side of the raised bed walls.

Bespoke timber pergolas will enclose the lawn, seating area and glass mulch pathways. Constructed from 90mm x 90mm Yellow Balau posts and beams, these structures will feature a variety of ’alcoves’ in the sides, some of which will also boast coloured Perspex ‘windows’ for that extra ‘wow’ factor.

A bespoke log cabin summer house will be installed along the sideway to house the client’s bar and running machine. This will be built to exact specifications to fit the dimensions of the sideway, with full length windows and double louvre doors at the garden end and a door at the opposite end. This door will act as a gate to access the garden from the front of the house.

We hosted a special event about ‘Pataphysics, the “science of imaginary solutions” -- and its founder, french poet Alfred Jarry, as part of our educational programs this month at the Mill Valley Library. This one-hour lecture and group discussion was held on October 15 in the Creekside Room, and engaged dozens of local community members in a fascinating conversation about the art movement that inspired surrealism and dadaism. Our presenters were Marshall Smith and Priscilla Wheeler, with creative contributions by Mark Petrakis, Freddy Hahne, as well as Fabrice and Phyllis Florin.

This program complements the first public exhibit of the ‘Pataphysical Slot Machine, our poetic oracle, which is on display this month at the Mill Valley Library. Come see the slot machine this month! The exhibit is open from 1 to 5pm every Saturday and Sunday in October, in the downstairs conference room of the Mill Valley Library. Pataphysical Studio members will be on hand to demo the Slot Machine and share what we have learned while building this interactive art project.

1959 Jaguar XK150 FHC

Chassis No. S835771BW

Engine No. V5366-8

Transmission: Automatic

Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernized. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The alloy bonnet was also widened, and opened down to the wings.

In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by an elegantly leather trimmed dash. Thinner doors gave the interior needed space as well.

Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in. Disc-Brakes appeared for the first time. Suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. Steering was by rack and pinion; power steering was not offered. Production ended in October of 1960.

S837312: Offered here is an elegant fixed head coupe, meticulously restored from top to bottom, with no detail overlooked.

This iconic British roadster is finished in a beautiful metallic blue over dark blue upholstery, complimented by chrome wire wheels, and driving lamps; displaying excellent fit and finish throughout. The car also features correct “J” headlamps and dual exhaust.

The cabin of the 150 is quite striking. Supple hides and well polished wood adorn the cockpit as well as plenty of brightwork. An aftermarket stereo system has been installed under the dash.

The well sorted 3.4L motor is quite stout, exhibiting strong acceleration and steady idling as the automatic transmission shifts through all gears with ease. As a reliable machine, this Jaguar certainly draws attention with its striking looks, all while offering a pleasant care-free driving experience.

Meticulous Full Restoration!

Well sorted throughout!

Excellent fit and finish!

HOSTETLER’S HUDSON COLLECTION

November 2016

Engine: 8-cylinder

Horsepower: 128hp

Weight: 3,195 lbs

Wheelbase: 121”

Cost: $2,050

The Hudson Brougham Convertible was built late in the production year to stimulate sales. Construction started by removing the top from a coupe and then adding the canvas top. Approximately 140 were built.

The engine block is chrome alloy and is so hard that it is very difficult to machine. This car also includes an overdrive transmission.

Ah…. Memories….. This is one of so many military kits I used to make as a kid and after grown up – God knows how many of the same kits I bought over the years, played with, be serious about model building, painting, building dioramas and so on in the 70’s and 80’s. When I was young I just slapped them together with glue and played with them straight away in the battlefield but as I grew older I got serious about them and the fun changed from playing battle to building and painting and reading about the history. Mountains of kits have passed in my life and this is one of the reminder kits of my past history. I will of course build it later and I will be able to touch and feel the days gone by just like a time machine!

This one’s not the original issue as Tamiya added photo etched parts then made the box bigger and more expensive. I will though make it as the original I built back in the early 80’s. That would be fun.

Not cropped.

This is a sampler of stitch patterns done with the original cams that came with my newly acquired Necchi Supernova Automatica Ultra sewing machine. This is an Italian made beauty from 1959, that after cleaning and lubricating is producing a wonderful stitch, and has nearly an endless possibilities of pattern stitches available with the stackable cams.

I made this in photoshop today, inspired by the ever so famous song "Shake it Out" sung by Florence and The Machine. This song holds so much substance, and symbolism, definitely one of my favorites.

My convict garb makes me look fat. Must be the horizontal stripes. That starvation diet they put me on in the sanitarium apparently isn't working.

Key is a B800 in a gridded stripbox, camera left, f/8. The spotlight is created using the Snootier Snoot courtesy of snapify. It is powered by an SB-28 at full power. O yea, my trusty KMart fog machine (this time with legitimate fog juice) subject front left (camera right), lit by an X1600 in a 20º grid at minimum power.

Forget your multi programme high speed spin cycle washing machine – this is laundry day in Rajasthan. The twin buffalo amble round and round, turning a gear wheel which pulls up water buckets from a deep well to discharge into the water channel. We peered into the well and saw the biggest frog ever – it was bigger than a dinner plate!

Poulton Signalbox was demolished over three days in February 2018. On Monday and Tuesday 19th and 20th February the interior and roof were dealt with by hand to salvage reusable items and to separate small waste.

On Wednesday 21st February 2018 the structure was demolished by machine.

This series follows the Wednesday operation.

Part of the fun of Sci Foo is getting a tour of the ginormous Google complex, which employs 12,000 people.

All food is free here except for junk food, which is sold (expensively) from vending machines.

This lovely, animated rotating earth shows Google searches in real time. The color of a spike refects the language; its height shows the number of queries from that location.

The tragic remains of the once great abbey of Bury St Edmunds. Originally one of the largest and most powerful monastic complexes in England, the abbey precinct was constructed around the vast church which was built over the tomb of the martyred King and Saint Edmund and was a major centre of pilgrimage.

The great Norman church was of colossal proportions, cruciform and larger than many cathedrals (certainly the one which now stands before its site, which would have easily fitted into the abbey's nave with room to spare). Its facade was immensely broad and was formerly crowned by a soaring tower and spire, its overall form perhaps somewhere between the frontages of Ely and Lincoln cathedrals.

All its glory ended with the Dissolution of the Monasteries, it came close to a reprieve when Henry VIII considered forming new dioceses out of certain great monasteries in which case it would have become the cathedral (instead of the much smaller St James's church in front of it). Alas it was not to be and the site was quickly plundered and used as a quarry.

Today the enormous church has been so systematically plundered that only the misshapen rubble cores of the crossing pillars and parts of the transept and west front remain, all robbed of their original facing stone.

The west front is the most substantial fragment, its arches filled in by later houses, thus what appears to be a jumbled row of stone buildings immediately behind the present cathedral is actually the lowest stage of the church's main facade, though it takes considerable imagination to make sense of it all. The most recognisable features are the three great arches of the central portals (with later houses embedded in them) and the base of an octagonal turret at the south end (formerly balanced by a similar feature to the north, now vanished).

This place always saddens me with a huge sense of loss, one of England's greatest buildings stood here but has all but vanished, the great open space left like a gaping wound from one of history's more vicious blows. If I had access to a time machine, this would be one of my first stops (on a very lengthy itinerary!).
