I bought this machine at Goodwill today for $3.50!! It was in a case also. It is pretty dirt and is missing the bobbin case, but it powered up and the light works. It will need a god bath and a new belt and then I'll test it out! I love the color!

I am such an old lady. Haha. Here's Giles, wondering why I'm paying more attention to the hunk of metal than his cute self.

This looks like a B/W with selective color but is not. I added a B/W layer and changed the blend mode to multiply and this is the result. Kind of liked it so kept it as is

La Machine on the Saturday. The morning turned out to be a little disappointing. A few thousand people turned out to hear some music. La Princesse didn’t do anything but sit there in the fake snow. Nice to look at but a shame for those people. Later she did wake up and went for a walk around town. I originally planned to be in the crowd but I came out the station on Water St and the crowd was insane. I didn’t like the idea of battling through to get a few quick photos so I was able to get on top of the town hall. From there the view of the crowd was simply insane.

The last generation of vending machines for the "Sonntagsblick", a Sunday newspaper, is disappearing. There are about 1500 of them in Switzerland. It all started in 1969 with machines in the shape of an astronaut’s helmet. It was the year of the moon landing. But these prototypes didn't work properly. The vending machines were created as a reaction to the then restrictive regulations regarding Sunday working hours and shop opening hours. The current price is CHF 5.20. The boxes will be filled for the last time on July 28, 2024. Then they are removed. Switzerland, June 16, 2024.

Maybe the collective term for all these Singer sewing machines would be a 'Choir'.

Vending machines are everywhere in Japan. I love it... especially on these hot summer days.

The box housed the rotors used in the machine. This was a German code machine designed to send encrypted messages. The rotors were placed in the machine (see next slide) in varying combinations according to the code book (red book at right of slide which actually had lead weights with it to sink it in the water if captured). There were seven rotors which enabled 92 septillion combinations.

A very old adding machine. No batteries required.
