Lier is a Belgian city located in the province of Antwerp. The city is said to have been founded in the 11th century. In 1212, the Duke of Brabant Henri I granted an urban charter to the inhabitants. The fourteenth century was a period of prosperity for the city: construction of a cloth hall in 1367, a belfry in 1369 and a second rampart in 1389. The prosperity of the city was based on the drapery industry and on the existence of a cattle market, which had been granted to it by the Dukes of Brabant.
De Fortuin (The Fortune) was probably built in the 17th century and adapted in the 18th century. It was used first as a grain store, then as a coal depot, lemonade factory, cabinetmaker’s workshop and town warehouse.

A church was founded here by in 974 by Countess Emma, Saint Emma of Gurk´s grandmother. Since 1131 this church served the parish.
After a fire in 1200, the church got rebuilt, of the older church the walls of the nave and a part of the narthex got "reused". The large Gothic (unfortunately locked) crypt got added 1330 - 1350. During the Turkish incursions in the second half of the 15th century the church and the surrounding area got fortified, while in "Baroque times" the tower got a new bulbous spire.
The chapel on the right once served as Karner (ossuary). Seen in the backdrop is "Schloss Straßburg". The castle, overlooking the valley of the Gurk-river, was the residency of the Bishops of Gurk.

I found this old, delapidated entryway to be a nice juxtaposition with what lay just beyond its border. The thriving plants inside seem to be completely obvlivious to the rundown doorway which frames them. Well, I suppose they are oblivious, come to think about it.

Sta. Fe is in the town of Bantayan Island in the northern tip of Cebu. Sta. Fe is famous of its white beaches. Even at the pier area, you can see the clear and clean waters.
You can walk thru out their beaches as there is no fence in every resort. You can lie down at the beach as you like.
The fine sand is so comforting to the feet as you walk barefoot.
