Get 'em when they are new is the maxim and here the clean roofs provide the clue that these SWT units are not long out of the box. They pass the site of the former Nine Elms steam shed (on the right) and the start of the Linford Street viaduct for Eurostars on the left, in a lucky patch of sun. This would be the penultimate weekend that Eurostars would employ the curve, as they transferred to St.Pancras soon after.

I have been eying up this location for a couple of years and thought there must be a shot here. Quite a short window of opportunity as the grass grows pretty quickly and the 'wispies' then foul the bogies. I was lucky this day however, as its early season and a 2nd 'Arcow' meant a later path to get the shot.

I had to plan this morning carefully with 5L46 part of the itinerary for the day provided the weather would play ball. I was seeing the grandchildren later and had worked the previous night so targeting the 'shot of the day' was necessary. Whatever else to occur was to be immaterial provided I had the 47's at a location I have been trying to acquire for a while now.

In the meantime I had seen this working on RTT so wanted to have this at the next bridge north to where I would end up. The bridge I went to afterwards can be seen in the background.

Cruella de Vil is my favorite Disney Villain of all-time, so naturally I attended the midday doll raffle on Tuesday, 09/19/2017 at my local Disney Store. The store appeared to have had 8 dolls available. Only about 4 or 5 people in total appeared to make a purchase from this release, which is not a great turnout at all. The cast members still pulled names out in order to then allow each person review the dolls and select one from the cart to buy one at a time. I was called third. The feature I was most carefully judging were the dolls' hair. I ended up selecting doll set #3729.

In person, the 2017 Designer Cruella doll is a lot nicer than any of the stock photos depict. Her sculpt draws from her animated character design, but like many of the Disney Store's villain doll sculpts in recent years, she does look a tad bit more cartoony than she needed to be. Additionally, like most of the Disney Store villain dolls (that are not the 2012 Designer Villains), the relative scale of head-to-body is somewhat disproportionate, so her head looks too big, also making her look more cartoony. Still, I love her cool, confident expression, and I am really happy that she has her iconic half-black/half-white chic bob hairdo.

I am not particularly a fan of her black faux leather dress, but it looks good when you do not see it too close. Her dress bodice has a textured surface and tiny black rhinestones. Her dress is lined in white satin. Her fur coat is a beautiful showpiece. The faux fur is soft and fluffy, and is lined in red satin. She has red stretch tricot opera gloves and red high heeled shoes. They did change up her iconic jewelry. Gone are her turquoise earrings and massive turquoise ring. Instead, she has a black beaded necklace and silver bracelets. Her fox tail purse was for reasons unknown turned black with white tail tips, instead of a white purse with black tail tips.

The Dalmatians are nice figures. They included Pongo, Perdita, Lucky, Patch, Penny, Rolly, and a fifth puppy that I cannot identify by name. They are static plastic figures, nicely sculpted and painted, but not at all a proper substitute for a second doll in the set to justify the retail price of $129.95.

Overall, the common complaint that the price does not match what you get in the set is rather spot-on. I did not bat an eye at it, as Cruella is my favorite Disney villain, but is this set really worth $129.95 + tax? No. It is not.

A lunchtime break (and lucky patch of clear sky) meant I was suitably tempted to go and grab 5Z02 on its way to Willesden. Making a change to see Caroline hauled, 37409 growls south.
