yesterday was first time i had seen this sign.......maybe it has been up before and i never noticed it?? am guessing it's to keep people from taking a picture of the ballot or those people exercising their franchise. (taking pics may be illegal, according to some banter on FB. but do we believe everything we read on FB??? ~grin~)
see the little brown thing on top of the sign?? some little one lost his or her bear-- poor bear, he had to hang out in the cold waiting for his child to come back.

An image of childhood lost. I revisited this image after watching the trailer for the indie movie "General Orders No. 9." I captured this scene a number of years ago, in a rural junkyard outside Logan, Ohio. To see the whiteness of the tires of this kids bike against all the old metal and rust spoke of a certain degree of sadness. The wonder and innocence of children is so easily discarded within the vastness of the self-imposed, secular wasteland of modern progress and the bleakness of simple survival of the adult world.
I wonder which words are "wheat bread" in Chinese... and what the rest means.

The Highway Dept recently uncovered this "lost" cemetary while preparing some land to use for a gravel site. Respectfully, they have marked off the plot, taken out the overgrowth, and even finished it with some gravel. Most of the graves have the names Owens on them and date from the late 1700s and 1800s. Some are so old the writing is no longer legible.
I was initially perplexed by the shirts that the youth of Japan liked to wear. Shirts with phrases/words in English were extremely popular. I paid no attention until one day when I actually paused to read a teenager's shirt. It made no sense. I read an author that said if you look at the shirts like a form of haiku poetry, it almost makes sense.
While in Sanyo Onoda, there was little to do in the evening, other than eat or play pachinko. I chose to wander the mall and chronicle some of the shirts sold in the stores.
I'm betting that the manufacturers made use of some of the electronic translators. When I was staying with my host family, they would occasionally pass me their Casio pocket translator. I would read their comment and think, "HUH?". One time the translator had said, "A man is a fool that sets his house on fire." I had no idea what they were trying to get across....don't play with matches, keep away from the stove...
This is where I was yesterday. Still no clue where it actually is but it was right about here when I noticed I only had enough gas for FOUR more miles. Since I didn't know where I was - I obviously didn't know where a gas station was. Things got very tense for a while but my awesome Honda, Homer, kept right on going down the road sniffing out a gas station long after the little numbers had all gone away and just zero showed up for "range remaining". Any idea where I was? Think I have been here before and think I was lost then too.
