The remnants of a huge star that exploded some 10,000 years ago, this cloud of ionized gas is still expanding at a rate of 1.5 million km/hr., as measured by the Hubble Space Telescope Team.
I photographed this nebula in the constellation Cygnus using a Canon EF 200mm 1:2.8 L II lens attached to a 62Mp ZWO ASI6200MC Pro OSC astrophotography camera. A dual narrowband filter was used to intensify the details of the glowing hydrogen and oxygen gasses. An unfiltered image of the stars were blended back into the image to preserve their natural colors.
Approximately 240 one-minute exposures were integrated to produce the final image you see here.

Built in 1896 and renovated in 1940, 1967, and 1987-1989, this station was one of the original stations along the Union Loop of what is today the Chicago L, and today serves the Orange, Green, Pink, Purple, and Brown Lines. The station today is a mix of original components and modern additions, a visual demonstration of the evolution of the Chicago L over its more than century-long existence.
