On the Incredible Hulk Coaster riders are shot out within 2 seconds at 40 mph and are sent through a zero-g roll, down a 105 foot drop and through a cobra roll. Riders complete a vertical loop, then enter a tunnel full of mist. At this point of the ride, the train's speed has reached approximately 60-67 mph. The train encircles the gamma tube and is sent into the back area via corkscrew. After another vertical loop and two over-banked turns, the coaster is slowed down by a brake run before being sent down another hill to a turn-around and corkscrew. Riders then travel sideways through a camera area and then to the ride's closing after a double helix. Phew!
`Aiea Loop Trail, O`ahu.
At about the half-way point in the hike, you will reach the highest elevation on the trail, Pu`u Uau, at about 1400' above sea level. Someone built a bench at this lookout, beneath a gnarly `ohi`a lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha).
The `Aiea Loop Trail, is a 4.8 mile trail that runs partly along the western ridge of Halawa Valley. It is a not-too-strenuous hiking trail and provides even the novice hiker an opportunity to experience a bit of nature, although one that has been affected by human.
The Loop Trail is a part of the 384-acre Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area. For more information on this recreation area, go to the State Parks Division webpage.

one of the surprises we found in Memphis compared to our last visit there 23 years ago (ouch) is the trollery service in the downtown area.
I heard about the Tehachapi Loop where trains cross over themselves. The loop was engineered to assist trains with making the grade. I took the day off to go check it out.

Built in 1896-1897, this First Renaissance Revival-style structure was designed by Alfred M. Hedley as one of the original nine stations on the Union Loop in Downtown Chicago, which was constructed to allow seamless operations and turn-arounds by the various elevated rapid transit lines that were operating in the city at the time. The station is one of only two on the Loop to feature its original station houses, though it remains unrestored and in somewhat dilapidated condition as of 2025. The The station houses are clad in metal sheeting with fluted corinthian pilasters, decorative window trim, one-over-one double-hung windows, decorative interior woodwork, and cornices with dentils, and sit above an open mezzanine, with metal canopies at the platforms lining the tracks. The station has received very few modifications since it opened, with occasional renovations, leaving it as an unrestored, though somewhat intact historic relic of the early years of the Chicago Union Loop.
The Fruit Loop is a ring of 30 farms in Hood River County, OR. Every year at harvest time, this loop becomes incredibly fun to explore. Whenever you do the Fruit Loop, the first order of business is finding a map. Most of the local businesses have them. The first place we went was out of them, but they had these adorable bittersweet pumpkin truffles, so I had to grab one.

Gold Basin Mill Pond Interpretive Trail
Mountain Loop Highway is a scenic road between Granite Falls and Darrington in Washington State.
One of the many, many cool parts about hiking in Bryce is that the trails really stand out. We're on our way down the Fairyland Loop and over there, there's the return leg. It would be a few hours, but we'd be right over there.

June 13th 2011, and we hoofed it into Bryce Canyon again for the Fairyland Loop. We hiked it clockwise this time, we've never done it that way and it was noticeably different.

A tramp I did with WT&MC in February 2008, uploaded to add to the Trip report on my blog :)
We went in at the road end bottom right, stayed at the lodge at the road end Friday night, then went along the track going up the centre of the map to Atiwhakatu Hut, then up the Rangauge spur to Jumbo hut for Saturday night. On Sunday we went across the tops to Mt Holdsworth, then down to Powell Hut for lunch and back to the same road end. Good trip :)

Quite a bizarre design feature for a new bus loop. Incorporate railway track - in this case the remaining "active" section of the CP's Van Horne spur. I have not seen any trains in this vicinity in recent months. Probably just as well.
