"A quiet renaissance going on along Michigan Avenue south of Randolph Street has most of the virtues that architectural preservationists are forever encouraging. With rather consistent sensitivity, the mix of ordinary and distinguished buildings facing Grant Park are being renovated instead of torn down in the false name of progress.
As the work continues, one of the most interestingly redone structures has turned out to be the 20 N. Michigan Ave. building, formerly the John M. Smyth Co. furniture store. It is a splendid example of intuitive architecture --the kind of design and decision-making that cannot be taught by professors or copied from the work of others.
Nagle, Hartray & Associates Ltd. is the Chicago architecture firm that accomplished this transformation. They took a peculiar building that had practically no esthetic merit and turned it into a handsome structure that can hold its own against the classiest architecture on the street.

"The 2880 Super Multi-Track Looper is 4 mono tracks and 1 stereo mix track with L+R in and outs. It records at 44.1 kHz, 16-Bit. It stores Loops on a Flash Card. You record the first loop length depending on the amount of memory on the flash card. So once you set track one to be say 5 minutes all other loop tracks with be 5 minutes or less. You can also record in reverse. Then you can mix and pan the four to the stereo 2 tracks. Then record 4 new loops, save the whole thing to the Flash Card and take it to your next gig. It features Midi Clock, Tempo and Pitch change (1 octave up and down) headphone jack and true bypass switching and an optional foot controller."

For the record, the “death loops” are the on/off-ramp/interchanges of I-890, Rt. 5, Edison and Erie Boulevards, though I doubt any locals needed clarification on the term…
A coworker and I mapped out a Formula 1 course (22 miles) over the death loops; doubt it'd be safe, and it'd suck to close the ramps for that fiasco, but it would be awesome on a stick.
