Our eye-beams twisted, and did thread
Our eyes, upon one double string;
So to entergraft our hands, as yet
Was all the means to make us one,
And pictures in our eyes to get
Was all our propagation.
~ John Donne

"There is an immense, painful longing for a broader, more flexible, fuller, more coherent, more comprehensive account of what we human beings are, who we are and what this life is for." ~ Saul Bellow

I'm longing for spring.. I love winter and skiing and everything, but today I'm fed up. The winter came so early this season, it's been cold and snowy for months! I miss hiking, running and cycling. And the beautiful spring light. And green grass. And white, little flowers. You get the point. We're getting there - February is only a few days away :)
Inspired by "The Dog Stars" by Peter Heller for the Novel Idea Book Club. Purchased by Peter Heller.

for while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened... so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.

A performance of "(Be)longing," Created by the award-winning team of Byron Au Yong and Aaron Jafferis, "(Be)longing" is a powerful performance event reflecting our society’s collective emergence from large-scale tragedies. Locally cast singers, beatboxers, and hip-hop artists present an original, staged oratorio about belonging, isolation, healing, and community. Prompted by our collective understanding and judgments around the Virginia Tech and Newtown tragedies, (Be)longing reflects on the impact of violence and considers deeper ways to connect and build communities of safety and support. At the International Festival of Arts and Ideas in New Haven, Conn., on Sun., June 18, 2017.
Alone in the heat...
seeing her past...
she fights the tears...
a losing battle...
every fibre of her heart...screaming
please can it be a dream...its to painful...
seeing his face...flash...splash..
in the heat of the night
she now cries...
longing for him...
full of regret
wishing she'd done it different
wishing she hadn't been a disappointment...
wishing he hadn't told her...
