When I look at this paper umbrella I think of drinking pina colada in Hawaii 12 yrs ago. I close my eyes and the music of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's music echoes in my mind.

During my time wandering the colourful streets of Hoi an, Vietnam I came across this little fella tied to a scooter by the side of the road. The poor guy was playful and desperate to chase the many bikes and scooters that flew down the street.

This is one of my favourite ICM images I took last spring along the Bruce Trail. It shows the fresh colors of the early leaves popping out on the branches. I long for that evidence of rebirth this spring. Meanwhile, I have this printed on a 36" by 24" canvas on my bedroom wall. It's a great way to greet the day.
A young woman in her home clothes seems to be lonely and longing for the warm and loving touch of her husband as she quietly looks at the calm waters of Subic Bay and the majestic mountain range.
I heard earlier that her husband has again joined a crew who embarked on a fishing trip in the West Philippine Sea, which may last for a few or more days.
Taken in an early morning cloudy sky at a village in Subic, Zambales, Philippines.
I made a slightly different version of this image on my previous visit to Crosby a couple of weeks ago. I was here again a few days ago at 5 a.m waiting for the tide to come in and, to be honest, I had nothing better to do so tried it again. I quite like the distance between the two subjects and maybe a better balance of space in this version.
I don’t know why, but as I was heading back to my car, I was drawn to these railroad tracks, and the longing to just get up and go. Go somewhere new; see something I’ve never seen before. These endless tracks are leading somewhere and nowhere at the same time.
One of my favorite musicians, Jeffrey Foucault, has a song Northbound 35. It’s one of my favorites. There is a train reference in the first couple verses, and I thought of it while I was shooting.

This picture is from Guilin area in China, made through the window of a train. I very much like these Karst mountains landscapes and hope to see such landscapes in near future in Vietnam.
The time will soon be here when my grandchild will long for the cry of a loon, the flash of a salmon, the whisper of spruce needles, or the screech of an eagle. But he will not make friends with any of these creatures and when his heart aches with longing he will curse me. Have I done all to keep the air fresh? Have I cared enough about the water? Have I left the eagle to soar in freedom? Have I done everything I could to earn my grandchild's fondness?
