''I long for the flourishing meadows,
I long for the longer days,
I long for the warmth,
and I long for the return of life.''

The lake was crowded today.
This weekend i was supposed to choose my favorite photo of mine and print it out and bring it in to my photography class, but i think shes just doing a before and after type deal on how much we improve throughout the semester, so im just going to go ahead and use this one BCUZ YOLO
Oh how I long to be with you Jesus! You are so good and gifts such as these are little glimpses of just how beautiful and amazing You are which makes me want to be with You all the more! Oh what a joy it is to be called Your son because of the blood You poured out on the cross that set me free and purchased my adoption into Your family!
Ugh. As I type this, I can't help but realize what an absolutely gorgeous morning it is. Sunny, cool, birds singing, things starting to bloom. I'd like most to grab my camera and journal, walk into the town proper for a coffee, then to a park, where I'd compose a poignant and joyful journal entry dedicated to the future son.
However... I am off to work. So it goes.

The two surviving gull chicks can now see over the parapet and they spend a lot of time gazing longingly at the sea! They test their little stumps of wings but cannot get off the ground yet.

As you try to capture images like this you begin to yearn for larger and sharper lenses [we're saving at the moment]. The birds flew quite close but settled on their nest sites, they were too far away for even our 400mm lens.
Sehnsucht brennt im Herz
So tief dass nichts mehr Platz hat
Tränen versiegen......
Longing burns in the heart so deeply that nothing more has
room.....Tears run dry..........

Scared to confess what I'm feeling - frightened you'll slip away.” Evita

I'm putting together another slideshow/video comprised of photos I took during my fall trip to Ireland last year. And as per usual, I'm going through all my folders for that trip finding new unprocessed mages to add. I don't know why I still get surprised at the low total of processed images my folders contain, compared to the voluminous amount of photos I took while on the trip. I keep processing for a couple of months after a trip, and then I get cabin fever and feel a need to create an itinerary for another trip, on which I take more and more images.
For the trip to Ireland, for example, I've culled about 70 photos for the presentation. I want about 20 more. This photo of the Oscar Wilde Memorial took me over an hour to process just now. It's 3 image HDR, but with two separate photos, one with Oscar in focus, and the other with his wife in focus. After combining the exposures for HDR (3 each), I've created a "focus stack" manually compositing the statue of Constance on top of the image of Oscar, so both are in focus.
The memorial was created by sculptor Danny Osborne in 1997. It sits across the street from Wilde's childhood home. Wilde is full size, reclining on a rock. Constance is a lot smaller. I tried to compose the shot so both seem to be the same size, with her in the foreground.
Went out to catch some storms near Caledonia, but it was too foggy to get any lightning shots, so I made do with the fog. Lightning and thunder were still going on when I took this shot.
It is hard to know what an Orangutan might be longing for, if anything. Hard not to be anthropomorphic about its wants and desires, especially when they strike a pose so human like that it is frightening.

The restlessness and the longing, like the longing that is in the whistle of a faraway train. Except that the longing isn't really in the whistle—it is in you.

Another of my favorite photos from a shoot I did a few months ago with my husband, he's such a good sport.
He thinks I'm a little over-exuberant with the hobby, but he doesn't say much!
A lot of the pics came out really well though, I'm happy with them.
