For centuries Bath had suffered from the River Avon flooding - even the Romans had to raise the level of some of their baths complex to alleviate the problem. Flood levels are marked on the buttress of Widcombe footbridge, on buildings in Grove Street and on Norfolk Buildings.
In the early 1970's the weir was rebuilt in its current 'V' shape with an associated flood control gate (sluice) on the east side of the river (see also Civic Trust Award page).
Pulteney Weir features in the recently released film of Les Misérables. Part of the scene where Inspector Javert commits suicide by jumping into the River Seine was filmed here in October 2012.
From a recent photography workshop. Conditions were not the best. With fading light and some ND filters, I worked on finding simple compositions and I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. First time trying out Live Time on my EM1 Mkii.
I was trying some long exposure shots here, with ND filters, to smooth out the water and this fisherman walked down the beach stopping every 10 or 15 steps, made a cast and wriggled his rod as he reeled in.I was going to wait for him to pass bye but decided to shoot one with him in the frame. I tripped the shutter for this 15 sec. exposure and was amazed when I checked the image to see how still he stood except for his arms wriggling the rod.

Me, I get my camera out and work on my long exposure photography!
Hiked down to a set of rapids hidden away in Whiteshell Provincial Park and set up for some long exposures. As the sun set, I absolutely loved how my shutter speeds were getting longer and longer. By the point this photo was taken, the sun had long set, and with the help of my polarizer I was able to achieve a 15 second exposure. Enjoy!

After last week's night time shot from Oregon, I thought I'd do a daytime shot from Washington this week. This is Palouse Falls and is marked as a rattlesnake area, but we hunted around for ages and didn't see any. This was part of my Pacific North West trip with Dave Morrow and Greg Annandale. Can't wait to do it again!

Convict Lake is a lake in the Sherwin Range of the Sierra Nevada in California, USA. It is known for its fishing and the dramatic mountains that surround the lake. The epitome of peacefulness today, Convict Lake got its name from an incident that was nothing but peaceful. In 1871, six inmates from a Nevada prison escaped here, and eventually battled their way out with a shootout, ultimately giving Convict Lake its name.
Decided to treat myself to a 10 stop nd filter , The lee Big Stopper was out of my price range and I would be scared I would break it as it's glass ,
So I decided to try the Haida Slim pro II as it seemed to get good feedback.
Don't really have anywhere to try it out till my holiday so I built myself a lake using a Storage crate some rocks and a Plate stand :)
Experimented with a few Exposures and settled on this one.
Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.
