Long exposure at Broughty Ferry beach with an unobliging seagull

Calm and tranquil black and white shot of a British seaside resort. I used a 10-stop ND filter to capture the sea and waves looking smooth.

I think we're spoilt for choice when it comes to locations along the UK coast. The regular overcast weather certainly helps too.

First attempt using a 10 stop filter, might take a bit of time to get completely used to it.

Beauty is unbearable, drives us to despair, offering us for a minute the glimpse of an eternity that we should like to stretch out over the whole of time. Albert Camus

La beauté est insupportable, nous pousse au désespoir, en nous offrant une minute l'aperçu d'une éternité que nous aimerions voir s'étendre sur la totalité du temps.

Albert Camus

HAVE PEACEFUL DAYS !

A long exposure shot of Sea Cow lighthouse in PEI, Canada. I arrived at the scene later than I planned, so I thought the moment might have passed. I left the shutter open for longer than I normally would and it recorded this movement in the clouds.

Hard to believe there's people in there ! Yarm Fair 18th - 20th October.

This image is another from my Puyallup Fair captures and it features a moderate moving Ferris Wheel captured at about a 30 second exposure. I was interested in this image to not only capture the motion and vivid colors, but also, a lot of the black detail in between. The crazy thing about this fair (referencing my earlier write-ups) is the fact that by the time you have entered the gate, ate some food, rode a couple of the rides, you will have no doubt spent about as much as you would at Disneyland, if not, a little more. And this is definitely not a Disneyland experience. But for capturing these images it is definitely worth it. This image was captured in September 2009 with my Nikon D90. Enjoy!

A post nightshift long exposure shot of Cove Harbour on a windy stormy morning

Practicing long exposures with an ND filter. Was set up with my grandmothers equipment as I am waiting for my ND filter and Intervalometer to arrive. Thanks to her and her willingness to teach and share her equipment I was able to get some decent shots and have a great time!

Long exposure a fascinating and unique images, especially when showing elements such as flowing water,

Long exposure of Boulder Falls along Boulder River in Washington.

The text came at 5:15 am.

It read "Get your camera and get downtown". Immediately followed by another text with an image.

At 1st I was worried that it wouldn't last until I could get ready for work and grab my gear.

Fortunately for me it did and I'm glad I got the text and made it in time to catch our beautiful city covered in a morning fog that was rolling up the Ohio River and then split up the Monongahela and Allegheny, leaving the office buildings of Pittsburgh rising above.

More of the morning in the next couple days.

Thank you David for the call. I would have never caught this.

Taken in Greece. Late afternoon.

I had already been to this location last summer, but I had the opportunity to come back again. Unfortunately it was cloudy and the light wasn't good, so I tried some long exposures with Big and Little Stopper: this is a 85 seconds shot (BigStopper).

Just a few days ago in one of my publications commented on how it feels to be in the right place at the right time.

So I felt again yesterday afternoon in the Port of Catarroja, one of the main channels that feed one our beloved Albufera of Valencia.

The shot was not easy because the strong wind and the fleeting moments (these lasted only about 3 minutes), but adjusting all parameters to the limit, the magic of light arose again.

With respect to the technical part, it is a 1 second long exposure using the combination of a Formatt Hitech Filters ND four step Firecrest plus a graduated three step.

I hope you like it. Have a nice Monday. :)

A long exposure shot from a very chilly Suffolk coast this morning

Cruising around after a long day of wakeboarding - in the speed boat on Leach Lake, Minnesota.

I got a few questions on how this was done: I setup the camera on a tripod in the front seating area of this Super Air Nautique wake boat. We turned on all the interior lights, the rear underwater lights and washed the bugs off the windshield :D. It was a relatively smooth night although the boat was moving fast and bouncing around. I used a remote trigger so I would not have to touch the camera and pressed down hard on the tripod to the boat floor when taking the pictures. I think because the camera was bouncing at the same rhythm as the boat, everything inside seemed pretty sharp - except for Captain Steve's head, cuz that's always been loose :O I was playing around with 2-4 second long exposure shutter speeds - this one was 2.5 seconds - other settings at: f/8, ISO 800 and 16mm focal length - that's it!

The Triangulum Galaxy is a spiral galaxy 2.73 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Triangulum. It is catalogued as Messier 33 or NGC 598. The Triangulum Galaxy is the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, behind the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way. It is one of the most distant permanent objects that can be viewed with the naked eye. The galaxy gets its name from the constellation Triangulum, where it can be spotted. It is sometimes informally referred to as the "Pinwheel Galaxy."

This river feeds the mighty Skogafoss falls. I used a longer exposure on this to get the smooth water tones.
