Located behind Sam Ka Tsuen, Lei Yue Mun, Kwun Tong District.

Hong Kong used to be known for its thriving mining industry and extensive production of stones, where the Lei Yue Mun Quarry stood as a prominent mining site. However, as the industry dwindled in the 1980s, the quarry was left deserted, with just a few old stone houses within its premises. The quarry has also become a popular site for photography lovers today. During the autumn and winter seasons, it transforms into an enchanting sight with a sea of lush golden reeds. At dusk, the reeds, abandoned stone houses, and the towering mountain form an Instagrammable, scenic masterpiece.

Located in the Four Corners area and stretching from Utah east into Colorado, Hovenweep National Monument is a desert area settled by ancestral Puebloans in about 1200 AD. The ruins include towers, dwellings, and kivas, many of which can be seen today. By 1300 AD it was abandoned, presumably because of drought, with Puebloans migrating to the Rio Grande Valley.

The ruins were first discovered by the leader of a Morman expedition into Utah in 1854. They were named Hovenweep, a Paiute word for "deserted valley," by famed Yellowstone photographer William Henry Jackson in 1874 and became part of the National Park System in 1923. It is remote. No crowds, no nearby cities, no motels, no restaurants, no gas stations. Just desert beauty by day and dark skies at night. And crows. Lots of crows.

Located in the Urubamba Valley, aka the Sacred Valley, most archeologists now believe that Machu Picchu was the private estate of the 9th Inca emperor Pachacuti or Pachacútec. Once the Inca emerged from their ancestral lands around the border area of modern Peru and Bolivia, and began to conquer vast tracts of land, they established their capital at the site of modern day Cusco, Peru around 1420. Just like all roads led to Rome in the Roman Empire, thousand of miles of roads and trails led to Cusco in the Inca Empire. Neither Machu Picchu nor Cusco were ever completed due to the Spanish conquest that began with a military campaign by Francisco Pizarro in 1532. It took 40 years to finally vanquish the Inca. Pizarro was only successful due to a civil war caused by the sons of Pachacútec. He was able to recruit the emperor's rival brother to his side. Machu Picchu was used as a stronghold by the Inca for many years but was eventually abandoned. Terraces below the main level were used to grow food especially maize which was used to make a fermented drink used in festivities and rituals. (There's little doubt that the beverage was called 'Hazy Maizy.")

Machachi is located to the south of the capital of Ecuador, Quito. It is a city surrounded by the volcanos Atacazo, Corazon, Rumiñahui, Illinizas Peaks, Viudita Hill, Pasochoa, and Sincholagua, and owns part of the Cotopaxi volcano, a great active volcano which measures 5,897 m (19,347 ft) in altitude. In fact, the valley owns eight volcanoes inside, one the reasons Alexander von Humboldt named the region "Avenue of Volcanoes".

In the Panzaleo language, it means great active land. Machachi is the cradle of many slopes and the same ground is a perennial thermal and mineral water outcrop. In the fertile valleys of San Pedro are about 22 sources of chemicals which have theurapeutical properties.

Machachi has a similar temperature to Quito, fluctuating from 19°C (66°F) average high to 10°C (50°F) average low; these averages are for the whole year, with the dry months being June, July, and August.

Whytecliff Park is located near West Vancouver's Horseshoe Bay Neighbourhood, the original name of which was White Cliff City, which opened in 1909. In 1914, Colonel Albert Whyte pressed for the spelling change from White Cliff City to Whytecliff. The Whytecliff area is now distinct from Horseshoe Bay. The park, originally Rockcliffe Park, was developed by W.W. Boultbee in 1926, and a private access road was cut from the Marine Drive highway at Batchelor Bay.

The fifty acre Boultbee estate was purchased by the Union Steamship Company in 1939 and the company operated a Bowen Island Ferry from Whytecliff during 1939-41 and 1946-1952

The park is currently home to more than 200 marine animal species and is the first Marine Protected Area in Canada. Sea lions can be seen sunbathing on the beach during summer.

Located on the southwest corner of N. Prairie and E. Chestnut streets., the Soper-Burr House is one of the oldest in the Franklin Square Historic District. It is actually two houses built 31 years apart. The original Italianate style house was built in 1859 by land speculator Hudson Burr. In 1871, Burr moved the structure further back on the lot and added a two-story, center hall addition. A Queen Anne-style house was attached on the south side in 1890 for Burr's daughter Emma and her husband, Clinton Soper, the president of American Foundry. The house was converted tp 10 apartments in the mid-1940s.

Fast forward to 2011 and the house was in such disrepair that Landmark Illinois had placed the property on its 2011 Ten Most Endangered Historic Places in Illinois list. Fortunately, a developer purchased the property and renovated it about nine years ago. As of April 2021, the property is currently for sale.

The Soper-Burr House is a contributing property in Bloomington's Franklin Square Historic District, which is located northwest of downtown Bloomington. The Square is named in honor of Franklin Price, who was the mayor of Bloomington Mayor in 1856 when land for the Square was gifted to the city.

Franklin Square was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, and was designated a local historic district in 1979. The houses of Franklin Square were built in a variety of architectural styles from the mid 19th century through the early 20th century, including Georgian Revival, Italianate, Colonial, Queen Anne, and Richardsonian Romanesque.

Bloomington is the seat of McLean County. It is adjacent to Normal, and is the more populous of the two principal municipalities of the Bloomington-Normal metropolitan area.
