This is Oscar, a live lobster my hubby brought home for our anniversary dinner! I just took some shots of him, to record the occasion (as you do!) and this one came out surprisingly well.
As many restaurants were closed, local Virginia seafood wholesaler, Sam Rust Seafood, sells Maine live lobsters, directly to consumers during COVID-19 as a way to say afloat during an unusual time.
Here lobster is prepared in a steamed broiled with potatoes, vegetables, and plenty of seasonings. May 12, 2020.

I discovered that the lobster fishing season here is very short. Fishermen are only allowed to fish for lobster for 6 to 7 weeks, then the crab season starts for another 6 - 7 weeks. I arrived here at the very end of crab season, the only ones still fishing were fisherment that hadn't met the quota for their boats. Loster traps and crab pots are a very familiar sight in the small communities along the coast.

I have flirted with poaching lobster in beurre monte for a few years now, and crap, I so totally got it all wrong. THIS is how it's done.
I predict a lot of lobsters are going to die in my quest to poach them like this.
