Lobster (Homarus gammarus) at 13m depth near Drøbak, Norway. Canon G9, Canon WP-DC21, built-in flash
Everything was mouthwateringly exceptional, and we debated ordering a second round. The buns are buttered and toasted, then drizzled with a slight slathering of mayo. The shellfish is brushed with a light glazing of lemon butter to amplify the taste of the sea, then sprinkled with a house blend of sea salt, celery salt, thyme, and oregano... just enough enhancements to bring out the succulent sweetness of the incredibly fresh shellfish. It was, by far, the best lobster roll I have ever enjoyed.

I nearly died when I saw this. What happened to crappy, over-jammed in stuffed animals? Lobsters now? Seriously?
Appropriately, here are the lyrics to "Rock Lobster". One of the B52's finest songs.
We were at a party
His ear lobe fell in the deep
Someone reached in and grabbed it
It was a rock lobster
We were at the beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
It wasn't a rock
It was a rock lobster
Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
He was in a jam
S'in a giant clam
Down, down
Underneath the waves
Mermaids wavin'
Wavin' to mermen
Wavin' sea fans
Sea horses sailin'
Dolphins wailin'
Red snappers snappin'
Clam shells clappin'
Muscles flexin'
Flippers flippin'
Down, down
Let's rock!
Boy's in bikinis
Girls in surfboards
Everybody's rockin'
Everybody's fruggin'
Twistin' 'round the fire
Havin' fun
Bakin' potatoes
Bakin' in the sun
Put on your noseguard
Put on the lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter
Here comes a stingray
There goes a manta-ray
In walked a jelly fish
There goes a dogfish
Chased by a catfish
In flew a sea robin
Watch out for that piranha
There goes a narwhale
HERE COMES A BIKINI WHALE!

I swear, I spent like 30 minutes chopping this. I was babying it. It all seemed so precious, I couldn't bear to lose or simple shred a scrap. I should get out more.

These soft shelled lobsters were brought in directly from Rockland, Maine by my brother.
Friends gathered for dinner and ate these along with corn on the cob, steamed mussels unabashedly. Sitting down on your own table and getting messy with your hands and all is just one treat that you don't get to enjoy and indulge when you have this kind of entree on the restaurant. Not only it is expensive but you have to mind your manners and etiquette when eating.
Here at home we get to use all disposable uternsils from the disposable green tablecloth, yellow plates, red and green fork and spoons and we even use disposable cups. The theme for the dinner tonight was in primary colors so we really had a lively place setting and a jovial conversation over the course of the meal!

Sue's aunt made lots of lobster rolls for a church charity luncheon that day, so she took a whole bunch back for us to eat (she paid for them, of course - it'd be bad form to steal from a church charity luncheon!)
Mmmmmm, mmmm lobster rolls. Why don't we have them in California?????
Because we don't have the GOOD lobster, and plenty of it like in New England.
This coffee table spent it's first life as a lobster trap. A piece of glass on top makes it a sturdy, functional table.
This is why I've never tried lobster, and why I never will (besides the fact that I'm a vegetarian). When I was little, I watched as the live lobsters were dropped into the boiling water, and listened horrified while they clattered around in the pot in their final moments. Lobster dinner was the other night at my sister's, but she has a CLEAR lid on her pot. It was heartbreaking to watch as the top lobster was trying to reach up with his claws, while his legs were frantically trying to take him up out of the water and steam. No one can convince me that "they don't feel a thing!"
