Loading gill net for fishing. On the other end is a truck with a big winch, providing tension, and feeding the winch on the front of the gill net boat.
Recently arrived GB&W C424 320 is on the load box at the Norwood roundhouse in Green Bay in June 1980. The engine started life as Erie Lackawanna 2412 and came to the GB&W in March 1980.
This statue pays tribute to the forgotten women who carried these loads in the days of the Herring Industry. They baited the lines and when the catch was landed they sold the fish in town and further field.
At a tiny speck on the map known as Brimson, a loaded train from Arcelor Mittal's Minorca Mine creeps towards the siding where it will meet an empty train heading for US Steel's Minntac Mine. Leading the way is the Illinois Central SD40-2 6251, the last black unit on the CN roster still sporting a white frame stripe.
No Electrical Power....
We suddenly have a lot of load shedding this last couple of days. I have my opinions on why but won't go too much into it right now. I think I will have to write a book about corruption and mismanagement and political stuff if I want to really explain why it is as it is.

For scale, those are indeed large railroad ore cars, on top of the structure.

Loading has begun. You can see the the slip has two tracks which line up with two tracks on the barge. I believe the sip has a way to move the barge right/left to line up the other tracks for loading.
NS 8075 leads loaded coal train NS 814 eastbound through Kumis, Virginia as the sun rises over the western part of the state.
A Copper Basin train of ore loads arrives at the dumper for ASARCO's copper smelter in Hayden, AZ. From here a large conveyor (out of sight behind me) takes the ore uphill to the actual smelter, where it will be refined into copper. Unfortunately not much copper comes out by rail these days, but the captive ore and acid trains are still plenty to keep the Copper Basin busy.
66098 crosses Dolemeads Viaduct, Bath, with 6C03, 09:57 Northolt-Severnside containerised refuse for incineration on 2 January, 2026. The train was unusually being routed via Westbury and Bath due to engineering works near Didcot. Note the vegetation growing on the viaduct which must surely be damaging the masonry - blatant neglect of vital railway infrastructure!

Not sure if it is a mating congregation, I coldnt see any copulation. Just a general sense of busyness with out much bumping into each other.
Previously i saw something similar with similarly shaped flies and RuiAndrade was able to say that it was flies of family Scatopsidae. I am not sure if this occasion is exactly the same or not ...but looks like it could be ...to my untrained eye.
