They are loading logs on this barge. They start on one end and work their way back.

Both vessels loading at Garrucha Port.

Both are Bulk Carriers loading with Gypsum mined locally at Sorbas. It is delivered to the port by fleets of articulated tipper lorries.

Millions of tonnes of Gypsum are exported annually.

There are always two bulk carriers loading.

There had been a power station at this site since 1911. The still existing power plant was commissioned in 1977 and in recent years has only been used for peak loads from time to time. In April 2021, the power plant was finally shut down and will be demolished by the end of 2022.

Yet another picture of my DIY square aperture experiment. Since the square bokeh looks pretty nervous I've tried to frame the marguerite with the darker and smoother part of the bokeh. I've chosen this title since images often look pixelated while being loaded, where the bokeh-squares look to me like big pixels. Hope you like it! HBW!

Have a great truck Thursday all!

Dodging cloud shadows, a loaded BNSF grain train heads west as it crosses the Idaho-Washington state line into Newman Lake, Washington behind a warbonnet Dash 9 leader. This train came off the MRL at Sandpoint, and just got a recrew at Hauser Yard.

So... Another field survey for the LMGs today with the jolly folk from RoAM and Natural England. Five new fields and 18 more Hoppers to add to the total (30 plus now).

Loads of shots today, but just posting this one as it really shows off the vivid red stripe along the lower femora margin. :@)

BLOL 7591 (ex NP GP9) & BLOL 7504 (original IC GP9, now a GP10) loading grain cars for the CN up in Charolette, IL. This was back in 2017 when it seemed to be easier to catch matching set of Bloomer power & catch bigger trains. Still to this day, I love shooting these guys.

Yongnian Rd., Shanghai

This is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Shanghai and is in the process of being demolished.

This tree perched on the edge of the sandstone cliffs at Roslin Glen decides to shed some of its snow into the Esk as the sun beats down from the other side. The backlight on the snow gives the oak a coral effect. For a minutes or so all the trees were getting in on the act here dropping their snow into the river.

The Voorstraat Harbor is the oldest port in Dordrecht, straight through the historic center of the city. In many places in the city you have beautiful views over the water. Dordrecht originated on the Thure stream, the later Voorstraat Harbor. In the past, you could moor at several locations in the Voorstraat harbor to load or unload your merchandise. Dordrecht was granted staple rights in 1299, which resulted in enormous economic growth. Staple right meant that many goods transported on the Lek and Merwede had to be marketed in Dordrecht before being transported further.

This heralded the Golden Age of Dordrecht (1350 – 1450). The stack made Dordrecht a hub of trading activities. Goods were traded and consumed from all parts of the world.

When the Voorstraat harbor became too small, other harbors were dug. The Voorstraat harbor is special because it runs under the town hall and under the Scheffersplein! No fewer than 7 bridges have been built over the port: the Leuve Bridge, the Pelser Bridge, the Lombard Bridge, the Vis Bridge, the Tol Bridge, the Wijn Bridge and the New Bridge. On each of these bridges you have a unique view over part of the harbour! After the Wine bridge, the Voorstraat haven turns into the Wine harbor.
