This is the old Queens Hotel in Nottingham, once a pub, then home to the Nottingham Fireplace Company, then derelict, now converted to business units. There's a photo of it when it was a pub here: www.closedpubs.co.uk/nottinghamshire/nottingham_ng2_queen...

It's the usual story these days, a few grand buildings hanging on amidst lots of awful roads. At least the cars are happy I guess. The tide does seem to be turning a bit at last, recent Nottingham developments have been much more people-friendly, and to be fair the cars don't seem to have complained.

Over the road to the left, out of shot, was once a cinema, at one time called the Queens Picture House.

This area has been knocked about quite a bit over the years, I understand there was once a train line and train station along here on a viaduct.

Heading away from here, down the left, is just loads and loads of empty unused land, which I find odd so close to the city centre.

Caged sound

BLOL 7591 (ex NP GP9) & BLOL 7504 (original IC GP9, now a GP10) loading grain cars for the CN up in Charolette, IL. This was back in 2017 when it seemed to be easier to catch matching set of Bloomer power & catch bigger trains. Still to this day, I love shooting these guys.

The UP CNAOK train takes it’s loads past the elevator located in Ashton, Illinois along the UP Geneva Sub.

A muddied front-end loader at a construction site on the outskirts of McKinney, Texas.

During my 2017 visit back home to Colorado I had some time to spend along the Jointline. It had been a number of years since I had visited and I definitely noticed some changes. Such as this bridge across the tracks in Sedalia, a nice addition for sure. BNSF coal loads climb towards the summit of the Palmer Divide at Palmer Lake. The SD70Ace was a nice bonus.

A pair of widenose Dash 8s split the searchlights at Napier Road on the Plymouth Subdivision. The Detroit to Grand Rapids train (L302-10) features a high and wide load and idler flats this evening on the head pin.

CSX R202 begins loading its 75-car train with Greenbrier Smokeless Coal in Anjean, WV. This loadout only loads a handful of trains every year, so this train was tied down for 3 days before the mine had enough coal to load all 75 cars.

The mechanical loaders make short work of filling up 66006 at Cwmbargoed, the train will later work out as 6C94 15:45 Cwmbargoed Opencast Colliery to Margam Terminal Complex.

Southeastern Colorado

Nothing to pick up at siding 4 on this morning as 301 passes by with loads lifted from siding 6. Light drizzle for a change.

Indiana Railroad's Bear Run Mine to Hoosier Energy Merom Powerplant coal loads roll downgrade out of Sullivan, Indiana with a pair of the railroad's "new" SD70Ms on the point. After some low water trouble with the lead locomotive between Sullivan & Duggar, Engineer Chris Vasen now has the train rolling again only a few miles from spotting the train at the plant.

After a brief pause, 2335 gets underway at Edungalba with the twice-weekly container service to Rockhampton from Longreach as 6391.

Once a month, this service extends onto Winton, as well as regularly stopping off at Barcaldine and Alpha to drop loading. This train operates loaded from Rockhampton to deliver supplies to various towns.
