Sporting a trio of standard cab C40-8s with CN 2038 in the lead, the PRS job approaches Proctor Yard with limestone loads in tow.

Even as the cloud cover was thick and the rain was in the air, the fall colors clearly are spectacular right now around the Twin Ports area.

A pair of CW44AHs lead G010 east with 80 loads of Potash for The Anderson's in Webberville. The train would meet westbound Q329 a few miles east in Lake Odessa.

BNSF shuttle train MCUNTW launched an hour or so earlier at McIntosh, S.D., and is enroute to the Twin Cities with an ex-Santa Fe C44-9W leading. The train is high above the Missouri River at Mobridge, S.D., on ex-Milwaukee Road rails. We'd typically see green hills in late June, but it's a dry year and the prairies look more like you'd expect in August.

A light rain falls as CP 8822 South heads south on the Fording River Sub with a loaded unit coal train bound for export. The train has loaded from the Fording Mine, and is passing the connecting track to the Greenhills mine, both of which make up 2 of the 4 mines on the 32.6 mile Subdivision in Southern British Columbia

Although it's mostly plastic, DJI's Mavic Pro drone does a great job at flying through a rainstorm, as was needed to be done in order to get the bird back to my location!

On Easter Sunday, the crew on LBU53X out of Butler have been called for a run down the Clyman Subdivision to Jefferson. They've spent most of the day at their tasks of spotting a long string of U.P. reefer storage cars and two loads for the coop on the north side of Jefferson. With their work completed, the duo of UP 1024 and UP 1480 are now light power and are finally beginning the run back north for Clyman Junction and then Butler for the tie-up. Here they clattering over the diamond at Jefferson Junction as the crew checks in with the dispatcher. There's not any mainline traffic, so it sounds like it'll be a quick run back to Butler once they reach the mainline.

The caboose at right, CNW 10958, along with the font of the office sign help make the heritage of this area pretty obvious, despite the UP shield on the power and office door. "JJ" was once the crossing of the CNW mainline from Fond Du Lac to Janesville (which the LBU53X is on) and the mainline from Waueksha to Madison. Both lines have been significantly trimmed down, and with the dwindling of industries on the modern-day Clyman subdivision, this junction is quite sleepy compared to even a couple decades ago. Still though, just being able to see something still clattering through the diamonds here in 2021 is a neat sight in my book, especially from this elevated view.

Maryland Midland's UBEG heads eastbound approaching Union Bridge, Maryland with stone loads for Finksburg. After Finksburg they would continue to the CSX interchange in Emory Grove to pick up cement cars dropped by the L136 earlier in the day.

Leading the train are the fairly new SD50s brought in to replace the SD40M-2s, which are on "the EPA list" for scrap. Only one SD40M-2 (3449) remains in service on the MMID, the 3450 blew a traction motor and was canned and should end up getting scrapped. These SD50s definitely aren't terrible, but can also be an eyesore to most people.
