Ethanol loads head for Motiva Enterprises in the Port of Providence awhile back. Despite this being well after the P&W went over to the dark side, two properly-painted units lead the charge through Millville.
One of my favorite lakers, the steamer Wilfred Sykes, loads at CN Dock 6 as a hill job spots cars for dumping.
Loads of it on two logs. Ash. I think this is the most photogenic fungus. Edible and contains anti cancer agents.

I loved the dark burgundy section of this tunnel. Being lucky enough to catch the light trail passing through the centre of the frame really adds to it too (and that red glow reflection on the poster!).
Moments prior I had been taking shots just before the tunnel. A couple of guys wandered past and stopped. My heart sank- they were going to engage us in conversation. I always feel so, so awkward as I really just want to take my photographs and be left alone. They were perfectly nice but there were loads of questions about what Michael and I were doing. Anxiety levels increased, embarrassment increased. Argh.
Took this one in a high def setting so you can zoom in on the finish of the skin; you may need to give it a moment to load. Gac's finishes all his skins with extra details like this and if you're looking for a slightly more mature skin then head on over to Manhood to pick up a demo. The afternoon dock job switches loaded taconite jennies out on old Missabe ore dock now controlled by Great Lake Transportation. A cloud of taconite dust flies into the air and drifts over the Mantoulin and Michipicoten from Lower Lakes Towing load at both the conveyors and the gravity chutes loading ore from Minnesota's Mesabi Range. Positively busy times at the Duluth dock.
Backed towards the end of in-service track, a ballast train waits for all departing trucks to leave the Quarry, before pulling forward to start loading.
The loading conveyor is located right on the former mainline, and the only access road to the quarry for customer trucks is blocked during the entire loading process. Due to this, trains usually will shove to clear the crossing until quarry employees are ready to load and customer trucks have left.

If you have been wondering where exactly is the back of beyond I can confirm for you that I drove through it on my trip to the US recently and if you need specific directions just send me an email.
So this shot was taken on the road from Mexican Hat in Monument Valley on my way to St. George, Utah. Nothing and nobody for miles and miles and miles and miles on end ....until this appeared . I was so excited to have something, anything, appear that I skidded the mustang to a halt to have a look. Initially I thought it was a 'bus' stop (!!) , a shelter perhaps - however no shade . Then it had the 'viewing' window which looked out on to a whole load of more nuthin' . It then occurred to me that perhaps it was the viewing area for some 'experiements' in the desert...am I going out a limb in the back of beyond to even suggest this ???? Any ideas ?
The other day I uploaded a long, wide load on the Leichhardt Highway between Moura and Wandoan in Queensland. Well, there were two loads and here is the second. This one was actually wider than the other, and if you look closely for the flags that distinguish the outside edges of the load, you will see that there is very little room left on the road. For this one, we were over as far as we could get and we still saw the load sweep past my nose!
CLF2, 44223, C501 and CLF1 load on the "main line" loader at The Rock ABA site. Once a few passing trains go through on the main line about 1km behind this the train will reverse back to the main line and then commence it's run south to Melbourne's Appleton Dock for unloading.

NS 7207 (ex-CR SD80MAC) has just finished loading NS C47, a 100+ car coal train at Amfire Mining Co. in Portage, PA and reverses under the coal tipple. Once put together, the train will head out onto the Pittsburgh Line and head to South Fork, PA.

A Clouded sulphur butterfly (Colias philodice) finding pollen on a Starry rosinweed (Silphium asteriscus) flower. The Springfield Conservation Nature Center almost never fails to offer photo opportunities.
Westbound CN grain loads G809 winds its way down the CN Ashcroft Sub mainline at Savona, BC as the evening sun makes a brief appearance from behind the clouds.
Savona was the first siding extended on the Ashcroft Subdivision to the full 'PSR length'. The 13,350ft passing track is an RTC's favorite, allowing for easy meets between trains at CN's current operating plan's maximum length of 12,000 feet.
The train holding the main is CN C730, the ubiquitous symbol used by CN for all of the trains of empty coal gondolas returning from Neptune Terminals in North Vancouver to any of the four metallurgical coal mines in the East Kootenay region of the province. These 152 car trains stay on CN rails east of the end of the directional running zone until Kamloops, where they use the CN Okanagan Sub lead to rejoin CP rails. CP crews take over the trains at Kamloops East, where the trains assume CP symbol 804 for their return to the mines. CP power stays on for the entirity of the trip from mine to port, leading to them often being misidentified as CP trains west of Kamloops.

One for the record - This was back in the days when you could wander around the ‘blue loader’ without being told to “go away” by the staff there. Apart from the “JS” locos that handled the coal trains, there were a couple of “SY”s on engineering duties, repositioning the tracks in the open cast pit.
All this has gone now, and coal from the blue loader goes out to the south on a conveyor belt. Interestingly, they seem to have re-activated the eastern pit with new terracing, something not there when we used to scramble down the pipe (as it was known) to access the railway tracks.

Or Pumpkin Load depending on where you came from!
Back in the old days a Punkin Load was a single log load that was big enough to bring the trailer up to weight. This was back in the days of the big timber, back when old growth was still plentiful.
Definitely not something you would ever see today, everything coming out of the woods today is match sticks compared to the days of old!
Just an old photo that I cleaned up as best as I could considering the age!
