Southampton, England: An unusually heavy load' is how Normandy Ferries described the shipment of this French Pacific class locomotive and tender.
The cross-channel line's ship "Dragon" arrived at the docks here early this morning with "Pacifique 231" the one-time Paris to Lyon express built in 1912.
The locomotive and its tender, aquired by a railway preservation museum and society in the North of England weighs 150-tons......
The loco used for the last twenty years (until January '69) on the Golden Arrow Express route, has been sold to the Lakeside Railway Estates Company, founded in May 1967 at Carnforth, near Windermere, Westmorland.

A week ago, from the main road between the airport and Tórshavn I spotted 15 enormous wind turbine blades stacked alongside a ship in the harbour on the Signabøur side of Kollafjørður. I hopped on a bus and went to get a closer view. They are enormous! I once drove past the factory in Jutland but couldn’t get a close look. One low-loader is in a couple of the shots I took, and as I was waiting for the bus back home another truck appeared. They may already have been taken away as I wrote this, so I’m glad I hopped on that bus.
LOAD Day 14 : Love Lasts
Today's page is scanned in, but the bottom 1/2" is missing. Blahs!
Journaling reads:
"jon & i both come from families where our parents are still in love. mine were high school sweet hearts & his knew eachother a mere six weeks before they got engaged. they've both been married for over 40 years...so they must be doing something right! i hope that we can share & experience that kind of love. every single day i am amazed at the amount of fun we have, the laughter we share and how it never gets old! i hope that we can take Lee Brice's advice & 'love like crazy'...
'be a best friend, tell the truth
and over use i love you...
go to work, do your best
don't outsmart your common sense
never let your prayin' knees get lazy
and love like crazy'

memory lane******2200 lb supply bundles exit from 10,000 ft over S. Vietnam headed for the troops in the jungles below. This was leads four bundle drop to check for accuracy, the rest followed with a 16 bundle load. The high altitude kept us away from SA7 missiles and other nasty projectiles. Recovery of goods was nearly 97%.

This actually starts off life as a school bus and is then turned into a Citrus Loader.

LOAD Day Two
I tend to scrap the everyday moments all the time. I don't think that I have "big events" so the little moments mean the most to me.
The photo is one I posted to Instagram. I took a screen shot of it from my text feed.
Journaling reads:
"Dad got an iPhone before I did so I had to follow suit - just so I could text him - for free. I love his fatherly advice - like how to get something out of a dryer vent, but what I love even more is the way he's okay with Jon - even calling him "a keeper". I think that's something every girl wants to hear - or read! I love our random texts back & forth. :)"

Or.. what's left of it.
I can tell you this much, even though I was only two steps into this loading dock when I took the picture, it smelled absolutely disgusting. Damn * no pun intended*

On and on it goes.... funny how it only seems like yesterday(Actually one year ago) that I was shifting loads from the Mill out to dry at Woods End.
Sure is nice to have the braking power of the Motor to get that load stopped right at the doorway, past hand-tramming required spragging the rear wheelset and hoping.

To view in stereo, sit 2-3 feet from the monitor and gently cross your eyes so that the two images become three. The one in the middle will be in 3d. If you are finding this difficult, you may be trying too hard. Viewing the original size is best.
The model has been made by a very talented model maker Simon Elmer, it represents a DUKW coming ashore at Aromanche on June 23rd 1944 just as the Mulberry harbour is coming into full use after the storms, The DUKW is operated by the Royal Army Service Corp and the crew of 3 have just collected a netted load from a small coaster anchored inside the Mulberry Harbour. The are coming ashore at the designated point as a Naval officer watches them in and no doubt directs them to their drop off point. My love of the DUKW stems from going for sea rides on them at Mablethorpe in the 1950s and 1960s with my Grandfather who just happened to be in the Army Service Corp in WW1 hence the connection.
I was intrigued by Lain's reference to a scratch and sniff layout and I knew I wanted to scrap about my (teeny tiny) coffee addiction so I used real coffee to create these rings. And yes, my layout smells like coffee! Yum!!
