In this forest one can find a light track often used by runners. A misty evening I decided to go a bit off track to take this shot.

As you drive towards Portland, you will end up in a parking lot quite close to the lighthouse and beyond which you will not be able to proceed...Portland Bill Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful lighthouse locations I have ever been to...I have always dreamed of going well into the ocean and framing the lighthouse with the adjacent rocks and water. This is one place that offers this unique vantage point.
Although I had shot this almost a year ago, I somehow had overlooked one of the best places I had been during my trip to the Jurassic Coast. I can still feel the bitter cold that was that morning. The hues in the sky were just there for a brief moment after which the sun came out fully well and eclipsed the colors that were there on display.
Have a nice day everyone!
A brightly lit spaceship, cleverly disguised as a cloud, investigates the inhabitants of Boulder County, as seen over the placid waters of Lagerman Reservoir near Longmont, Colorado. There are numerous man-made lakes and reservoirs along the Front Range, and these provide an opportunity for waterfowl to rest unharried.
When John Wesley Powell first visited this area around 150 years ago, he stated plainly that nobody would ever settle here, since the country was too dry. While Powell was clearly wrong with this particular prognostication, it remains true that the area could never support the population it does without the extensive re-engineering of the region's hydrology that has taken place in the intervening years. A substantial portion of the water that Front Range residents drink and spray on their lawns comes from the headwaters of the Colorado, water that would have flowed west, but now makes its way under the mountains to the east via various pumps, tunnels, and reservoirs. How this system will cope with climate change in the next 150 years is opaque, and the only thing certain is that it will be stretched and tested, both by less predictable snowpack, and continued increases in human population. In the meantime, these birds are testament to the fundamental truth that water is life, and it does the mind and spirit some good to get out and experience it.
Happy holidays to everyone!

"30 LITS est une œuvre éphémère réalisée par KANVA. L’installation, qui durera deux mois, se déploie sur un terrain vacant privé au centre-ville de Montréal. Il s’agit d’une œuvre délicate constituée de 30 cadres de lits dépareillés récupérés à travers la ville et peints en blanc.
Par ailleurs, les 30 lits que l’œuvre expose soulignent la vocation future du terrain vacant puisque ce dernier accueillera bientôt une résidence universitaire de 30 chambres."
"30 LITS is an ephemeral art installation by KANVA. Slated to last two months, the exhibition occupies a private, vacant site in downtown Montreal. It is a delicate work consisting of 30 mismatched beds which were salvaged across the city and painted white.
The 30 beds displayed in this installation underline the future vocation of the site: a university residence of 30 rooms."

This is a unique image for in that the only light source here is from a pulse of lightning through the clouds. I shot this at nearly 11:30 at night, and it was otherwise pitch black out. For this split second, though, the whole scene was lit by a giant strobe filtered through the clouds. You can see how deeply crushed the shadows still are, but the bay comes alive with the reflected light. You can see a bolt on the right side of the image. This is Pleasant Bay in Prince Edward County, Ontario. It's amazing how unique lighting conditions can produce very unique images. Right time, right place.

Richborough Cooling Towers at night. The orange glow is from the lights of Pfizer on the other side.
At the time, i had just been to a photography club in Margate, and was out for a drive, when i saw there was a low fog. This fog was not to the ground so you could drive under and see perfectly clearly, but any one traveling on the top deck of a double decker bus, may be restricted for view. (to give you some idea how low the fog was. This is no exageration)
There is a small road with a railway crossing, and i am parked up on a dirt track leading to farmers fields, The fog started to lift a bit when i started taking some photos, and the results from my evening are all simular to this. I picked the best one out of the bunch to display.
The only unfortunate thing is, it is very hard to show the fog. Its strange, that if i stood on a bank beside the road, i could jump up and put my hand into the fog! it was a very cold evening there and after 9 photos of 15 to 40 second exposures, i was very cold and got back in the car to warm up.

I have been wanting to try the fire painting underneath a structure for some time as I think the sparks bouncing and reflecting creates a unique effect.
I finally found a location with the help of an image found on another users flickr photo stream (Di's Eyes - Thank you!) and decided to scout it out this evening.
