A Norfolk Southern ethanol train passes through Hammond, Indiana during golden hour. While it was a treat to have the tank cars lit up by the sunset, I was thankful that their flammable contents remained calm and cool :) Thanks for viewing! Feel free to leave a comment if you wish ... but please refrain from smoking :) Many tanks :)

This is a huge lenticular or standing wave cloud so called because it remains stationary generated by high winds aloft blowing over the mountains fired up by the last rays of the sunset.

After a largely grey day when even i didn't feel like going down the beach, the skies finally cleared. When I arrived the tide was dropping and the fresh sand just starting to be exposed. The whole day was suddenly lit up by the setting sun . Lit up is by The National.
The symbol of the Third Eye is always depicted in the shades of indigo which is generally known to be a mixture of the deepest of violet and blue tones. The Aum ( Om ), sacred mantra, is of Sanskrit origin and when translated it means "the seed of all creation."

I took a few photos of the crescent moon with the person standing near the Pier with the West Pier in the distance. Unfortunately the lights on the sign weren't working properly, only the Brighton part was lighting up and not the Pier part of the sign. I preferred this version with the lovely blue tones and the Brighton Pier sign silhouetted rather than lit up.

An old window at Eksjöhovgård (lit. Oak lake manor). And note the thickness of the walls!
The manor is situated just outside of the town Sävsjö, built in the 1650s by Carl Mauritz Lewenhaupt (who died with the title of field marshal in 1666). But it was not completed by the time of his death and his family could not complete the project. It saw substantial remodelling in the 1730s (including the tearing down of the top floor - so it is now a two storey structure). In 1812 the copper roof was sold and the manor quickly deteriorated - as buildings with no roof on tend to do...
A set of translucent dice back lit so the colours come through on to a watery surface, using a low key technique to make them stand out.

The red light here comes from the bowling sign as seen on the previous photo. I wanted to take a photo of the red sign from a different angle, but it was not possible because the area was fenced in. Anyway I turned the camera and took this one. It was complete dark but if I moved a little bit, a sensor would register it and a lamp would turn on and the area would be flooded in white light.
I'm pleased with the result. It has a certain mood. And I'm glad it is in focus.

For Macro Mondays - Lit By Candlelight.
Just enough light to see the cricket scores.
Happy Macro Monday!
Smile on Saturday theme: lit by candlelight
Off to the side I have 3 birthday candles lit.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments and favs. All are greatly appreciated. HSoS
Using a metal case to house a bottle of TCM Oilment, took out the bottle and replace it with a torchlight to create this effect.
At first I took a picture of a candle flame. It was a satisfying picture, but I noticed that was a mistake and hurriedly took a picture on Sunday midnight again!!
The light source of this picture was only candlelit from the right side and the bottom.
I was nervous so that the flowers would not have burned with flames!!
Happy Macro Mondays!!
Les zones alluvionnaires du lit du Jabron sont couvertes de buddleias tous en fleurs en cette fin de juillet, attirant nombre de papillons qui côtoient de nombreux odonates peu farouches.

By the Jabron river
The alluvial areas of the Jabron riverbed are covered with buddleias all in bloom at this end of July, attracting a number of butterflies that rub shoulders with many sparse odonates.

Die Alluvialgebiete des Jabron Flussbetts sind bis Ende Juli mit blühenden Buddleien bedeckt, die viele Schmetterlinge anziehen, die mit zahlreichen Libellen in Berührung kommen.
