Where there is light, there is photography and most of all, there is the Grace of God… For Christians, have a blessed Sunday… And to the rest of my Flickr friends, I hope you enjoy your own Sunday, too!

"There is surely nothing other than the sole purpose of the present moment. A man's whole life is a succession of moment after moment. If he fully understands the present moment there will be nothing else to do and nothing else to pursue." - Gautama Buddha

I took a number of shots of this natural light event, there were three main shots out of those that i felt best captured the brief moments these awesome rays of light were shining down through the clouds, this shot is the last of the 3 photographs in the series.

These shots (series of 3) were taken in Central Queensland Australia.

Look closely at the lower middle boat to understand the title!

I hate humidity, but one of the few positives of hazy skies is some beautiful light.

This is the middle part of a panorama about cropped in half. Seen from Mt. Feichteck (1514m), looking onto the high plane of Samerberg that is about 250m above the normal elevation of the area of Rosenheim (450m).

Very strong aurora at the dutch, northern, Wadden coast. The whole evening it was visible but at 23:00 it peaked for 5 minutes with light pilars and dancing aurora, visible with the naked eye... What a night.

The structure in frame is called "Tempel van Ids" and is a landmark at the Frisian sea-dike. The structure is carried by 12 pillars which stand for the 12 provinces in the Netherlands that are protected by sea-dikes.

Let's call it a day for the time being, my friends!! I have closed down the comment box for uploads henceforward. I don't wanna be rude and unfair - receiving comments but not returning any. I don't know when I am gonna reopen the comment box; only time knows, I guess!

These days it seems that physical "truth" can easily be rearranged, rethought, or re-created outright. Any image can be made pristine, all the warts can be removed.

But returning to the source of a thing – the real source – means the photographer has to watch, dig, listen for voices, sniff the smells, and have many doubts.

My life in photography has been lived as a skeptic.

Based on some older shot in autumn, edited first with G´Mic´s Simple Local Contrast-Filter and some cross-processing-effect.

I used this for exercising this lightray-effect in Gimp, if someone is interested, here is a short how-to:

-duplicate layer, set it to Monochrome in the Mixer and increase contrast to some black OR! white look

-erase all remaining lights that should not be the source of those rays with a medium brush

-Motion Blur-Filter (set to linear, length: 256, the angle is depending on the image) for creating rays, strong Unsharp Mask for strengthen them

-use the Perspective-Tool to get more length and for adjusting the direction

-Colors->Color to Alpha set to black, so only the lightrays remain

-Eraser to get some of the rays behind some of the the tree trunks, opacity for balancing

In the end I used some additional Dreamsmoothing-Filter from G´Mic.

On our last night in Mexico, we decided to get up VERY early and watch the sun come up over the Caribbean Sea. We stumbled down towards the beach in darkness, found a comfortable rock and watched a true miracle. The first ray of light thrust out of a distant cloud like a search light to my soul. To witness the birth of a new day is an amazing experience.

Many thanks for your Flickr friendship.

An important warning when taking photos outside in foggy weather is to beware of condensation. Water condensation will form on the surface of your lens or even inside your camera. If your camera is at a similar temperature as the air and the fog it not too dense, then condensation might not be a problem at all. I used a cloth to regularly wipe off the front of my lens. I used a Canon 5D MkIII and Canon 24-105 L lens that is weather sealed so I was not too worried about condensation.

This photo was taken in May 2015 with a Canon 5D MkIII, TAMRON SP 90mm F/2.8 Di VC USD Macro

I discovered that photography required little more than common sense and the ability to judge a subject upside-down.

Approaching the Montlake Cut

Early morning sunlight and mist plays among the lilting ferns in this autumn scene.

Blue Ridge Parkway autumn evening landscape photography in the southern Appalachian Mountains. Evening sun beams through the clouds over the colorful Appalachian mountains during the vibrant fall foliage of 2009. This autumn landscape was shot from one of my favorite spots along the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina.

The lower class of humanoids on New Genesis were believed to be evolved from bugs, and among them was Forager. When the Apokoliptian Mantis came recruiting colonies of "bugs" to fight for Darkseid against the New Gods, Forager was sent to warn Orion and Lightray of the insurgence. Ever since, he's been a trusted and valued ally of the New Gods and has been instrumental in helping his fellow "bugs" gain equal rights!

I'd prefer a more expressive face for dear Forager, but alas, red heads aren't in much abundance.

Dimmi

Siamo nella stessa lacrima,

come un sole e una stella

Luce che cade dagli occhi,

sui tramonti della mia terra

Su nuovi giorni

Ascoltami

Il sole mi parla di te...

Brilliant light rays shine over early spring blooms on the Cowee Mountains. Taken from the Blue Ridge Parkway. I call the image "Mom's Light" as it was taken on the first Mother's Day after her passing. Just Mom saying hi from the heavens. :)
