Coming back from the beach at the end of the day, the light was golden and this was the view over the dunes.

Sunset over the Pacific from Cape Disappointment. The sunset itself was not disappointing. Taken Waikiki Beach, a beach more commonly photographed due to the huge king tides and swelling waves, tonight's conditions were calm at slack low tide. Regardless of what the surf gives, its still a perfect place.

Dramatic sunrise over Poipu, Kauai, Hawaii.

The amazing California Coastal Redwood forests are incredible in the worse conditions, but are out of this world when the fog and the sunshine collide.

I and my friend Nicole Pino will be taking a group along the southern Oregon coast including time in these amazing giant trees. Contact me for more information.

Gorgeous sunset at Cannon Beach yesterday!

IT'S BETTER: ON BLACK

So I haven't been able to get out and photograph anything the past couple days due to the winds and rain, but this morning, I went outside and saw this outside my house.

I've actually got a bunch more from this morning, trying different angles and exposures, but I'm partial to this one - it's simple, but effective.

Let me know what you think.

...

I'll probably upload a couple more from this series in the next day or two.

Looking for light in all the right places

30/05/2015; Newsflash. It isn't as easy to catch thos lighthouse rays as I thought it would be. Still haven't a friggin' clue what to do, so if you got some pointers on how to get the rays of the lighthouse in a photo? You know where to find me. :)

"Then the soul, freed from vice, purged by studies of true philosophy, versed in spiritual life, and practised in matters of the intellect, devoted to the contemplation of her own substance, as if awakened from deepest sleep, opens those eyes which all possess but few use, and sees in herself a ray of that light which is the true image of the angelic beauty communicated to her, and of which she then communicates a faint shadow to the body."

At sunset in Ha Long Bay there was an interesting light phenomenon when the many tall limestone karst islands cast their shadows into the sky during a beautiful sunset. Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in north Vietnam that is a popular cruising and boating destination

Light in a canyon

I love catching light rays in this Canyon. A bit of wildfire smoke in the air and mist from the raging waters added to the atmosphere.

The clouds and sky gave a heavenly display on the drive from Detroit to Bay City ~ 2 hours of glory

Dedicated to my dear friend Humie who wrote a wonderful testimonial for me.

Sunset over the coast of Western Norway. Looking at Marstein fyr fra Viksøy, Sotra.

A rare untextured shot on this stream!

Much better on Black so press the L key!

Finally the sun came out, just before all the autumn colour had gone.

The first trip to the Redwood National Forest was a banger! I am so happy I got lucky with these conditions. Most photographers come multiple times before experiencing these types of conditions, many never get them at all. Walking into this plush garden of giant coastal redwoods with the early morning sunlight draping through was awe-inspiring. It was tough to really concentrate and later in the morning became a struggle for me to pierce my eyes through the viewfinder. I just really found myself content with looking around. The presence of fog and mist combined with direct sunlight gives the forest a feeling of lucidity, clarity, serenity, and calmness. I spent a few hours in this beautiful light and never saw it again over the course of 4 more visits that trip. Can't wait to go back.

April 23, 2015 on our trip to the blipmeet at Wanaka, Central Otago in New Zealand. www.polaroidblipfoto.com/browse/me

Late in the day we are back in Cromwell. We are now walking over to taste some wines from the Wooing tree vineyard.

www.wooingtree.co.nz/

Cromwell is located in the valley of the Upper Clutha, deep in the heart of the dry interior of Central Otago... in a landscape of bare brown hills, of tussock and briar, of purple thyme and tors of schist, of broad basins and fertile valleys, of Lake Dunstan's pristine waters and of gorges carved by two great rivers... a landscape first trodden by the Maori hunter and trader, opened to European settlement by the sheepmen, exploited and transformed by the gold seekers and later by the dam builders... and now home to the merino and deer farmer, to orchards and vineyards, to artists and artisans and to those, tempted by the landscape and history, climate and location and the myriad of pursuits offered on land and water, to visit this 'timeless land'.
