Orbs

To spin with gossamer or with light

Is a cold weaving at dewfall, when

The spinneret drips with imprisoned

Spheres of condensation, even as

The silk is being combed outwards,

And the bright spectrum is blurred

By a concatenation of mists. Ghosts

Are unnecessary: the whole place

Is a haze of emanations, and the web

Weighs heavy half-extruded, encumbered

By globes of water, strung with flares,

The light wearing moisture like a cowl,

Bowing its lucent head in nimbus-

Gilded prayer. The threads of light

Spire inwards, as the spider whorls

Towards the centre, as though seeking

Some seared nadir of homespun, and love

Blazes forth in the gleaming orb of water.

Poem by Giles Watson, 2012.

Back to one of my favorite spots to spin an orb under an "almost" full moon.

One of the original pictures from the light orb first outing. Taken a small crop to give a slightly more pleasing composition (in my opinion!!). I love the light orb now he's getting out and about. Where to next!!!

A bit of fun with a REAL input

Note:- English not his first language....

Another experiment, this time in light painting. Looks like a large ball of wool more than a light orb (with horizontal axis). :-(

Unfortunately I can't remember where I saw such attempt first and who did it. Can you help? Must have been in February or March this year. Can't find it any more. (UPDATE: Solved! See below!)

Anyway, as soon as I find the time I will practice... ;-)

Flinging a quick orb on the way home from the disused shopping centre

Nearly there with this one.

I like to think the technique and light source has improved, i now need to add a little colour. However i think the white works ok in this capture.

Straight out of the camera, with blue-O-vision custom white balance.

I tried to put a couple of smaller orbs in the background, but there was a bloody PIR sensor that kept setting off a floodlight. So the orb stayed solo.

Not sure whats happening at the minute but I always seem to throw a buldge in the orb on the left side... Oh well it will sort its self out in time.

It was cold as hell :) and windy, I was having a hard time keeping the lighter lit for the sparkle to start sparkling. But there it is, I'm not satisfied with the result, but it was a first time with sparkles.
