1st ever attempt at creating a light orb. Amazing what you can do with a length of twine and some flashing police lights from the top of a paymobile 'meat wagon'.
A little bit of moonshine, lots of snow and some Christmas decorations to light up the snow.
8 degrees below zero.
Waiting for summer.
A dark and stormy night at the beach in Northwest England. The tide was right up to the seawall and things got a bit wet.
Quick nip out to a field close by to spin an orb. Very close to a main road so I feel there were a lot of people driving past wondering what the hell was going on.
Faffing about in the garden, thought I'd try and crosshatched orb. Should be able to get it neater with a bit of practice.
@MM©: Notice the return of the flashing spinny thing you used to like so much :)
It's the start of the tourist season on the Isle of Skye - they're coming from further and further away now...
Explored April 7, 2018.
It's Life, but not as we know it...
Image title from the enigmatic novel by Italo Calvino. Light orbs are a new thing for me, but they are very addicting!
Oregon offers some of the countries most beautiful scenery which most of it is captured in the day light. Here is bridge of the Gods in Cascade Locks solo session! Didn't have to dodge to many cars this trip!
This is my first attempt at creating light Orbs! So pleased with the results :D I need a bit more practice but not bad for a first go i think. I have been inspired by some wonderful work that has been posted on Flickr, especially work by Denis Smith (biskitboy) who creates the perfect orbs in the most beautiful locations.
This Image is SOOC (Straight out of the camera) apart from a WB adjustment.

A visit to one of my favourite light painting locations here you see a couple of wire wool spinning and a bit of mulitcolours light ribbon that was done with my V24
I went out to catch the big full moon over Skiddaw in the lakes on Friday night & just couldn't resist spinning up an orb on the shoreline.
The skies nice & were clear on Friday night, but cloud arrived for Saturday night, so no shots to be had of the big full moon on that night :-/
I just managed to get a 30 second exposure to work with as the moon was so bright. I used a kood nd4 & a Lee 0.9 grad with all of the dark end of the grad over the lense.
Single exposure, nothing added or removed in photoshop. Adjustments made in ACR & minor levels, shaprening, crop in photoshop.
A first try of a new technique for me, combined with a touch of photoshop & this was the result.
Huge thanks to Chris Thompson & Darren Hopkins for the inspiration to give this technique a try. Check out their amazing work below :-)
I was shocked & saddened to hear of Gareth Brooks untimely death the other day, taken away with so much life to live & life to give.
Nobody could spin them as well as he could, an inspiration to us all, RIP my friend.
I finally got the chance to test out my new light blade from Dave Thompson. I had a great time trying out the excellent light painting orb technique from Tom Hill. One exposure: F13 for the orb, F3.5 for the EL wire and stars. Excited to continue experimenting with this tool! 🔦
Another top night in Chee Tor tunnel, Derbyshire with fellow light painting lunatic, Tim Gamble. This was nailed fairly quickly using Tim's orb skills because I am severely rusty at these things!
Myself & Dave met up with light painter extraordinaire Mr Hob who had kindy offered to show us the way into this underground location for some exploration & general light faffery.
Watching Mr H work his magic in the creation of these images was a real pleasure to behold, & I think the quality of the images speak for themselves.
The current project list is now complete. I welcome the formulation and evolution of the next batch, for now I am Exhaust(Ed).
I have tried several times to shoot a human model inside a decent light orb but never been satisfied with the results. This work was created using my carbon fibre version of Quornflake's light ball tool coupled with a double exposure technique that I have been honing for a while. The android girl is an extract from a much larger CGI psychedelic artwork I found on the web but with no apparent original artist. Whoever you are, credit to you.
17 OCD LP attempts and an adjustment to the levels as the background was starting to bleed through.
This one is not for sale.

Taken about 1/4 mile underground Newcastle ...
Dave & I had a good outing testing out some new light painting gadgets the other day ;-)
